Esri ArcGIS Pro Add-In Troubleshooting Guide

Prev Next

These are some issues that may be encountered when working with the Esri ArcGIS Pro Add-In.

Add-In Not Appearing in ArcGIS Pro

If you do not see your add-in, check your Esri well-known folder and ensure that the Add-In is in the Folder.

Add-In Not Appearing Instructions

  1. In ArcGIS Pro, click Project

  2. Click Settings

  3. Click Add-In Manager

  4. Click Options

  5. Confirm that the folder shown under Well-known folders is the same folder where the CivicPlusAssetManagement.esriAddinX file is placed

  6. If the folders do not match, then:

    1. Move the CivicPlusAssetManagement.esriAddinX file into the chosen Well-known folder

    2. Add a new well-known folder and select the folder where the CivicPlusAssetManagement.esriAddinX file is located

  7. Restart ArcGIS Pro

    1. Close ArcGIS Pro completely and restart ArcGIS Pro after placing the CivicPlusAssetManagement.esriAddinX file in the Well-known folder

    2. Make sure that all ArcGIS Pro instances are closed before restarting

  8. Verify the File Name and Extension

    1. Verify that the file name is CivicPlusAssetManagement.esriAddinX and that it has not been renamed or saved with a different file extension, such as .ZIP or .addin.

  9. Download the add-in again

    1. Download the CivicPlusAssetManagement.esriAddinX add-in again to ensure the file is not corrupted

The Add-In is Not Showing Any Layers

If you do not see any layers when you click on GIS Push from your Add-In ribbon, then perform the following steps.

Add-In is Not Showing Layers Instructions

  1. Make sure you have opened the ArcGIS Pro project that contains the layers you configured

  2. Confirm the layers are present, visible, and not broken; ensure that there are no red exclamation marks on the layer names

Viewing the GIS Push Log Shows Errors

The “The MERGE statement attempted to UPDATE or DELETE the same row more than once” notification can be caused when you have more than one row using the same identifier.

  1. Confirm your external ID in the Admin tool

    Note:

It should be your GlobalID or another UUID

  2. In your GIS data, confirm that you do not have more than one row with the same ID

You may also check the following:

  1. Ensure every row has an identifier

  2. No two rows share the same identifier

  3. The data type of the identifier matches the data type in Asset Management

  4. Data type match between fields in GIS and Asset Management. For example, confirm you are not syncing text to a numeric-only field

Some Fields are Syncing, But Others Are Not

You may see some fields update, but others do not after running a sync. This can be caused by:

  • Differences in the field name between GIS and Asset Management

  • Missing or mismatched Domain codes

  • Unmapped fields

The most common reason for this is syncing domain codes, such as code and description pairs, from ArcGIS Pro to Asset Management. The domain codes and description set needs to match exactly in Asset Management. If you add or remove a set from your domain codes, Asset Management needs to be updated to match. You will need to contact our support team if you are updating your domain codes.

Check Your Field Mapping

  1. Log in to the Asset Management Admin Application

  2. Click Properties

  3. Select the asset class configured for GIS Sync

  4. For each property that should sync:

    1. Select it from the Property Selection list

    2. Ensure the External Sync Property is filled in with the exact GIS field name

      • Exact Field Name Match (Case-Sensitive)

        Note:

Any mismatch will prevent that field from syncing

        • Field names must match exactly between the GIS layer and the External Sync Property

        • Casing and spelling must be identical

          • Example: testfieldname is not the same as TestFieldName

After I sync, I do not see my updates in Asset Management

Depending on the volume of data you are syncing, it can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. Once the sync is completed, regardless if it succeeded or failed, you should see a record in your GIS Push Audit Log.
