The Mapping System lets you combine location data with records in Community Development. The mapping system is fueled by an integration with Esri's ArcGIS.
The Mapping System works the same across all supported versions, including Elevate and Legacy. You'll have access to the same tools and features in each.
You can easily:
Draw feature layers that include polygons, lines, and point layers.
Plot the location of Community Development records. This lets you see where permits, projects, complaints, violations, and more are on a map.
Get to Know Your Map
Search
You can search by fields that you set up in your settings; typically, these are parcel IDs (identification) or addresses. You can also toggle between which layer you want to search.
Legend and Visible Layers
By default, all layers are shown, and their visibility is set based on your settings. You can toggle layers off and on by clicking the 'eye'.
Zooming
In the top-left corner, you will find the zoom icons. Use the + to zoom in, and the - to zoom out. You can also use the scroll on your mouse.
Hide the Legend
Use the toggle panel icon to hide and unhide the legend. This can free up visible space on the map when you have many layers in your legend.
Measuring
Use the measure icon to measure a single distance or the area of a polygon.
After you pick 'measure distance' or 'measure area', you click the New Measurement button.
To measure a single distance, use a single click to start your measure and a double click to end it. You can also change the unit of measure.
To measure an area, start with a single click of the mouse; each click will make the boundary of the polygon. On the final side of the polygon, use a double-click to stop.
Recenter the View
If you want to return to the start, default latitude and longitude, click the Recenter the View icon.
Switch to Satellite View
You can change the base map by clicking the Toggle Base Map button.
Drawing
You can draw lines, points, and polygons on the map by using the drawing tools.
Parcel Cards
You can click on individual polygons, lines, and points to get additional information. For example, if you click on a parcel, the parcel card will show.
The parcel button is a shortcut to the parcel record under asset management.
The buttons for permit, complaint, project, license, violation, and inspection are shortcuts. They let you create new records at that location. They appear based on your map settings.
