Frequently Asked Questions
Is your integration certified?
Yes, we are certified for the hosted payment pages, card tokenization, and EMV.
How is CivicPlus Pay integrated with Converge?
For card-not-present transactions, we have opted to use their Hosted Pages API. This is a full re-direct where the user will enter their payment information into a page hosted by the Converge Gateway.
For card-present transactions, we are using Commerce Web Services, which enables us to listen to the ConvergeConnect tray application. Learn more about tray applications.
For refunds, voids, and charging tokenized cards, we are using the XML API.
Can I manually enter credit card information into the payment terminal?
Yes, you can manually credit card information into a terminal.
Why do some cards prompt for PINs and others prompt for signatures?
Depending on the payment card’s card verification method, the customer may be prompted for a signature or PIN. It also depends on what EMV device you are using. For example, the iPP320 will never prompt for a signature.
Can I take contactless payments with Converge?
Yes, both devices our integration is certified with (iPP 320 and the iSC Touch250) can take contactless payments.
What operating systems can be used with Converge?
This is determined by Elavon and not by CivicPlus. As of January 10, 2020, Elavon only supported ConvergeConnect on Windows. Please see Elavon’s documentation or contact their support team for more up-to-date information.
Can I connect my iPP320 or iSC Touch 250 over IP?
No, our integration type only supports USB.
How long does a customer have to complete a transaction with the PIN pad?
The transaction does not time out. The PIN pad will wait for a transaction to complete as long as it takes. However, your POS (point of sale) does have session timeouts.
Can I take ACH and eCheck payments with Converge?
No, not at this time.
What happens if a card gets approved for $50 but the transaction was for $100?
This is called partial approval. Make sure that your Converge settings do not allow for partial approvals. CivicPlus Pay does not understand the difference between full and partial approval. If you erroneously have this on, you will only collect half the money you charged.
What is the Merchant Code column in Pay for Converge?
This corresponds to Converge’s transaction ID.
When a user allows their session to expire on the hosted payment page, why does that show as a canceled transaction in the Pay activity log?
When a user’s session has expired with Converge, Converge does not tell CivicPlus Pay why, and thus that information cannot be logged into the activity log. You can verify this information by checking the raw response.
