Roles add further specificity and customization options to permissions. Administrative users with access to edit Roles can add, edit, or remove customizable roles. For example, a user could have access to read content and edit assets. Roles are then used to define permissions for Groups and Clients.
Important Notes
- As a default, only Owners have the right to access the Roles section of the HCMS (Headless Content Management System). A custom role could be created to allow users to read, create, update, or delete roles if desired.
Default Roles
Owner
- Group/Client Settings: Can access all features in the HCMS (Headless Content Management System)
- Permission Set Settings: Has full access to content and assets and can approve an authors work
Developer

Group/Client Settings: Can access most features in the HCMS but will not be able to view or update the following HCMS Settings:
- Backups
- Clients
- Roles
- Languages
- More Section
- Permission Set Settings: Has full access to content and assets and can approve an author's work
Publisher
- Group/Client Settings: Can only access Content and Assets sections in the HCMS
- Permission Set Settings: Has full access to content and assets and can approve an author's work
Author
- Group/Client Settings: Can only access Content and Assets sections in the HCMS
- Permission Set Settings: Can read, create, update, and submit content and assets but will not be able to delete or publish these items
Reader
Note: This is currently set as the default role for any new group or client.
- Group/Client Settings: Can only access and view Content and Assets sections in the HCMS
- Permission Set Settings: Has view access only
No Access
Note: This role is mostly used for Intranet purposes.
- Group/Client Settings: Will not be able to access any HCMS features
- Permission Set Settings: Will not be able to view content or assets
