This article will show you how to set up the CivicPlus Pay Tray App for Heartland.
Important Notes
- This article uses the PAX S300 as an example. Please consult with Heartland if using a different device.
- In order to test a transaction, you will need to verify with CivicPlus that your payment gateway has been configured in CivicPlus Pay. Once that is complete you will be able to run a transaction.
Prerequisites
- You must have downloaded the latest version of the CivicPlus Pay Tray App.
- You must have the Pay Tray App Installed.
- You must have a Heartland chip read/pin pad device. The device must be plugged into the power and ethernet, and already have its system updates performed. For more information on this step, reach out directly to Heartland technical support.
Instructions
- Navigate to the directory in which you have installed the CivicPlus Pay Tray App
- Note: The default installation path is C:\Program Files (x86)\CivicPlus\CpPay Tray App
- Search for the application and select Run as Administrator

- Find the app in the Windows tray, and right-click to select Settings
- Click to expand the Heartland section of the configuration dialogue
- Note: You will need the IP address and port of the device you are trying to communicate with.
- Type the port number into the HeartlandSecureSubmitPort field
- Note: The default port number is 10009
- Find the IP address of the device
- Go into the admin settings of the device
- Navigate to Communication using the arrow keys
- Enter the password
- Select LAN Parameters using the arrow keys
- Touch IP Address to view the device's IP Address
- Enter the IP Address into the HeartlandSecureSubmitIpAddress field
- Note: Do not add any preceding zeroes to the IP address. For example, 192.168.001.051 would be entered as 192.168.1.51.
- Click Save
- Run a test transaction
