Does CivicPlus Media support Closed Captioning and Transcription?
CivicPlus Media supports Closed Captioning files (.SRT and WebVTT formats) and Transcription files (PDF) that are uploaded on the Event Media page. The municipality can create files in-house or use a third-party service and then manually upload the files post-event.
Live and on-demand Closed Captioning services and on-demand Transcription services are also available through our partnership and custom integration with 3Play Media.

What are the fees associated with Closed Captioning and Transcription services?
For information on Closed Captioning services, including the per-minute fees, please contact your implementation consultant or our CivicPlus Technical Support team.
Transcription is available to all customers with Closed Captioning services activated at no cost.
What are the available Closed Captioning and Transcription configuration options?
CivicPlus Media customers have the option to choose which meeting types to caption and transcribe, and at which service level. For example, a municipality could have a transcriptionist review all City Council meeting video transcripts and use machine captioning for community events or meetings of smaller boards, or opt to not caption those videos at all.
How do I activate Closed Captioning and Transcription services?
Customers must complete the following steps:
- Request activation via your implementation consultant or our CivicPlus Technical Support team
- Our staff will send a Closed Captioning Authorization Form detailing the service terms and pricing
- Once our staff has verified that your authorization form has been received and properly executed, CivicPlus Technical Support will activate closed captioning services on your production website
- You will have access to training videos and our Technical Support team to assist you and answer any questions
How do I cancel Closed Captioning and Transcription services?
Closed Captioning and Transcription services can be deactivated at any time by contacting our CivicPlus Technical Support team. You will receive a final invoice for any unbilled activity that month. Existing on-demand videos with captions will not be impacted by canceling future service.
