Microsoft Teams: Send Alerts & Messages

Prev Next

The Microsoft Teams integration allows your organization to deliver urgent notifications directly through the collaboration platform your team already uses daily.

Send Alerts

This integration allows alert originators to send messages to contacts using a new alert delivery method.

  1. Open the Send Alert form

  2. Enable the Microsoft Teams delivery method.
Delivery method options including Microsoft Teams highlighted.

    • Recipients can be selected by group or individual contact, similar to other alert delivery methods. Messages will be sent directly to each recipient through the Teams Integration, once installed.

  3. Messages can also be sent using the High Importance flag for time-sensitive or critical communications that need immediate attention.

  4. A message will be sent to Microsoft Teams from Mass Notification

Send High-Importance Messages

When enabled, your message will be marked as "high importance" in Microsoft Teams with a red exclamation mark (!). This helps ensure critical messages get noticed.

What to Expect

Your recipients will:

  • See a red (!) icon next to your message

  • Possibly get notified even during "Do Not Disturb" (not guaranteed)

  • See the message highlighted in their chat list

Limitations

This setting cannot:

  • Force notifications if users have them disabled

  • Override the company's Teams policies

  • Send "Urgent" messages that repeat every 2 minutes

  • Guarantee delivery during Do Not Disturb

When to Use

Best for time-sensitive or critical communications that need immediate attention. Remember that recipients still control their own notification preferences.

Note:

Actual notification delivery depends on the recipient's Teams settings, device settings, and organizational policies.
