Enhancements

Calendar Refresh

Finding out what's happening in your community should not take effort. The redesigned Calendar delivers a modern, accessible experience. It helps residents quickly discover and act on local events. The month view has been modernized, and new list and detail pages have been built. This gives residents a cleaner, more visually engaging way to browse events on phones, tablets, and desktops. The redesign also brings improved accessibility. It gives a more consistent display of the event details you manage behind the scenes. It also aligns better with the rest of the CivicPlus suite. For staff, this means less time reconciling how event information appears. It also means fewer questions from residents about where to find event details. The result is a professional digital experience that keeps your community informed and engaged.

Important Note:

We disabled the new Calendar module experience on 10/7 in order to make improvements to ensure it can handle the high volume of visitors. We will communicate updated release plans after this work is complete.

Site Search Synonym Enhancements

Enhanced the site search engine by implementing a new synonyms capability that recognizes related municipal terms such as trash, garbage, and waste. This helps residents find relevant results even if their search term isn’t an exact match.

Accessibility Enhancements

  • Navigation Landmarks and Menus Improved for Accessibility: We corrected navigation roles, list structure, menu-item relationships, landmark naming, and keyboard focus behavior across main navigation, secondary navigation, Pages widgets, and mega menus.

  • Repeated Page Links Now Provide Clearer Context: We reviewed repeated navigation labels and improved page names where there wasn't enough context to tell them apart. Labels that caused duplicate or unclear link names were corrected on the affected pages.

  • Quick Links Accessible Names Improved: We updated repeated Quick Links items so links with similar visible text can now be told apart by assistive technologies when they lead to different destinations.

  • Job Listings and Action Links Now Clearer: We added job-specific context to repeated "Full Description," "Read More," and application links, so their descriptions now clarify which job posting each link relates to.

  • Bid Read-More Links Now Include Bid Context: We updated Bids listing links so the visible "Read on" text stays the same, while added hidden context now identifies the related bid title for screen-reader users.

  • Jobs Headings and Controls Follow Clearer Patterns: We corrected heading hierarchy and improved contrast for Jobs page controls, including category-selection actions and the Search Jobs form label.
