Released Enhancements

Accessibility Updates

  • Sitemap Title: To improve accessibility and consistency, the Sitemap page (/sitemap) now displays a clear H1 heading labeled “Sitemap,” and the browser page title has been updated to match. This change ensures that users and assistive technologies can more easily identify the page’s purpose, making navigation more predictable and compliant with accessibility standards.

  • Tabs Widget: We’ve improved the accessibility of tab navigation in Web Evolve to better support users who rely on screen readers and keyboard navigation. Tabs now follow the recommended ARIA structure, ensuring that the selected tab and its content are properly announced and navigable. This update addresses previously reported issues where tab controls were incorrectly identified and same-page links did not behave as expected for assistive technology users. Styling remains unchanged for existing sites, so your site’s look and feel is preserved.

  • Asset Links in Widgets: We’ve enhanced how asset links are displayed across all widgets. Now, whenever you add or view links to files (like documents or images), the link will automatically show the file name, file type, and file size. This update ensures all asset links meet ADA accessibility standards without requiring manual overrides or extra steps from editors. You’ll notice this improvement in widgets such as Linked Lists and any widget displaying documents.

  • Link List Format: To improve accessibility and ensure a smoother experience for users of assistive technology, we’ve updated how link lists are announced by screen readers. Previously, aria labels were automatically applied to link lists, causing screen readers to announce link names twice (such as “Downtown link link”). With this update, only the actual link text is included in the accessible name, so screen readers now announce the link name once, followed by its role.

  • Map Links: To enhance accessibility and clarity for users relying on assistive technology, all “Link to Map” buttons now include unique ARIA labels that specify the destination address. This means screen readers will announce exactly which address each map link refers to, making navigation more predictable and reliable for all users. If an address is unavailable, the ARIA label will fall back to latitude and longitude details.
