Create and Configure a Video Banner

Important Notes:

  • This module may incur an additional cost, please contact your Customer Success Manager for more information.

  • We support links from OneDrive, but not from other vendors like YouTube or Vimeo. An error message will appear if the link is from a different source.

  • The OneDrive link that OneDrive provides is an HTML page with the video embedded into the page, so the link is really an embedded video link and not a link to the OneDrive video itself. To obtain that link, you need to use View Source, grab the link from there, and paste it into Theme Manager.

  • Even when you use the actual video link, the link may expire after a certain period of time and the video will stop working. This is a security measure with OneDrive. CivicPlus cannot control this expiration.

Instructions

  1. Click the Site Tools icon, then select Design Center The cogwheel icon, and the URL labeled Design Center.

  2. Select Theme Manager The URL labeled Theme Manager beneath the Design Center header.

  3. Navigate to the layout you would like to add the video banner to The 'Change the layout' dropdown, to the right of the Theme Manager dropdown.

  4. Select the banner you wish to turn into a video banner An area of the video banner.

  5. Navigate to the Options tab The tab labeled Options to the left of the Images tab.

  6. Select Video for Mode The dropdown labeled Mode.

  7. Check the Mute Sound button if you do not want the video to play its audio The checkbox labeled Mute Sound.

  8. Navigate to the Video tab The tab labeled Video to the right of the Options tab.

  9. Click Choose Image to select a Poster Image The button labeled Choose Image.

    Note:

    • A Poster Image will be displayed if a browser/device does not support video play or your video file.

    • The first frame of the video will be used on devices that do not support video play. If you prefer a different image, you may choose one.

  10. Locate and select your Image Asset An image asset in the Select an Asset modal.

  11. Click Link Selected Image The button labeled Link Selected Image in the bottom right corner of the modal.

  12. Select other Video options The text entry field labeled 'Link Address', below the URL labeled Instru actions, and the text entry field labeled 'Link to Video' at the bottom of the Banner Options modal.

    • Link: Click to indicate the video is a link

    • Link Address: Add the URL

    • Link to Video: Add alt text

  13. Select the X to exit the Banner Options window The X in the top right corner of the Banner Options modal.

  14. Click Save Changes The button labeled Save Changes.
