Build an App Landing Page

This article walks through an example of how to create an app landing page for your community that links out to forms and other resources.

Pre-Requisites

  • Create the forms you want to link to on the app landing page. Examples may include permit applications, zoning forms, or special event forms.


Create the App Landing Page

  1. Create a new App and add an applicable name, such as "Municipal Services". Select Tiles as the App Type. Creating a new app with fields for name, subdomain, and Tiles selected as the app type.

  2. Open your app and navigate to the Builder tab The Builder tab at the top of an app.

  3. Click Hide (eye icon) next to the default Navigation Tiles that you do not want to display on your landing page The Hide icon on an app item.

    Note:

    If you hide the Pending Submissions tile, users will be unable to complete offline submissions.

  4. Scroll down and click Add Menu Tile

  5. Add a Label for the tile Input field for a custom link label, indicating that a label is required.

  6. Choose an icon or an image for the tile:

    • Icon: Click the icon to select an option from the list

    • Image: Upload an image file for the tile

  7. Select the Item Type from the dropdown:

    • Container: The container option allows you to select a group of forms that will be displayed in a list when a user selects the button from the landing page. This can be used to categorize forms by topic, such as permits or special events. Container selected in the Item Type drop-down with a list of available forms below.

    • Form: This allows you to link directly to a form from the app landing page. Select the existing form from the dropdown. Form selected from the Item Type drop-down on an app.

    • Link: Select this option to link directly to an external source such as a page on your website. Link selected from the app Item Type drop-down with a URL listed below.

  8. Repeat steps 4 to 7 until you have added all of your navigation tiles

  9. Drag and drop your tiles into the order you would like them to display The reorder icon next to an app item.

  10. Click SaveSave button in the top right corner of the Builder tab on an app.

  11. Scroll down on the Builder tab to add banner images, a favicon, color themes, buttons, and a header/footer as neededCustomize tab.

Preview & Share Your App

  1. Click the Launch button to open the app The Launch button in the top right corner of the app.
