Child Facilities are linked to a Parent Facility. When you reserve a Child Facility, it is part of the Parent Facility’s schedule. Parent Facilities can also be grouped under a Grandparent Facility.
Important Note:
Parent/child relationships can only be applied to a maximum of 3 facilities.
Example
In this article, we’ll use a Civic Center as an example. It has a basketball court and a kitchen. Both can be reserved separately. The basketball court can also be rented as a half-court.
The best way to set this up in Recreation Management is to create the following facilities. Make sure each one has the correct settings and rate types.:
Civic Center - Full Location
Basketball Full Court
Basketball Half Court A
Basketball Half Court B
Kitchen
Instructions
Navigate to Facilities, and select Facility List
Edit the facility you wish to make the parent
Select the Child Facilities tab
Check the facilities that are children of this facility
Navigate to the Rental Options tab
If desired, select Block Child Facilities so that when this facility is reserved, any child facilities it has are reserved with it
Click Save Facility
To set a Grandparent facility, Edit the desired location
Navigate to the Child Facilities tab and select any facilities that are its direct children
Note:
Do not select any “grandchildren” facilities, like Basketball Half Court A or B, in the example above. This setup is not supported and may cause conflicts or double bookings. When you reserve the grandparent facility, the system automatically includes the parent and their child facilities.
Select Block Child Facilities on the Rental Options tab of the grandparent facility
Click Save Facility
