This article will show you how to find and browse codes and documents in the online Code Library.

Important Note

The Browse a Document section below will only apply to municipalities that use the public document archival tool, MuniDocs, to host their non-code documents.

Find a Code or Set of Documents

  1. Navigate to the Code Library The Online Code Hosting homepage.

  2. Enter a Municipality name into the Jump to any municipality box at the top of the page to quickly access its publications The Jump to any municipality box.

  3. Select a State on the map, or scroll down and select a Category or State Name to view all municipalities with online codes within that category or state A map of USA with alphabet list, categories, and states that start with the letter A.

    Note:

    Click one of the letters of the alphabet below the map of the states to quickly jump to the categories and states that begin with that letter.

  4. Within a state search, enter a municipality name into the Jump to a ... municipality box to access its publications quickly, or scroll through the alphabetic listing of names and select a municipality search by municipality options

    Note:

    Click one of the letters of the alphabet at the top of the page to jump to municipalities in the state that start with that letter.

  5. If a municipality only has one publication in the code library, you will be automatically directed to that code; if a municipality hosts multiple publications in the code library, you will be taken to a Publications landing page An example municipality's publications page.

  6. If necessary, click Browse under the desired publication The blue, rectangular Browse button on a Code of Ordinances card.


Browse a Code

  1. Navigate to the desired code

  2. Scroll to view the code in its entirety An example code of ordinances.

  3. Select specific parts, chapters, sections, and articles in the Table of Contents to jump to those areas, if desired An example table of contents.

    Note:

    Click the right and down arrows next to titles in the Table of Contents to expand or collapse the list.

  4. Enter a search term or phrase into the Search or jump to box to view related search results from within this code, if desired The Search or jump to box.

  5. Click the left arrow below the municipality's logo to open the Navigation Menu and select an option to browse other available documents or visit other pages, if desired The left-hand navigation menu.

    • Home: Return to the municipality's code library home page

    • Codes: Browse codes

    • Ordinances: Browse individual ordinances

    • Documents: Browse additional online documents

    • Links: View additional municipality links

    • Municode: Visit the online code library and other links


Browse a Document

  1. Navigate to the desired MuniDocs home page The MuniDocs code library home page.

  2. Select a document type in the Table of Contents select document in type table of contents

  3. Navigate through the folders and subfolders in the Table of Contents to find and select the desired document select the desired document

    Note:

    Click the right and down arrows next to titles in the Table of Contents to expand or collapse the list of folders and documents.

  4. Scroll through the PDF Viewer to view the document in its entirety A PDF document viewer with resolution example.

  5. Enter a search term or phrase into the Search or jump to box to view related search results from within the municipality's code and documents, if desired search or jump to all municipality publications box

  6. Click the left arrow below the municipality's logo to open the Navigation Menu and select an option to browse other available documents or visit other pages, if desired The left-hand navigation menu.

    • Home: Return to the municipality's code library home page

    • Codes: Browse codes

    • Ordinances: Browse individual ordinances

    • Documents: Browse additional online documents

    • Links: View additional municipality links

    • Municode: Visit the online code library and other links
