Add a Code to a Violation

Instructions

  1. Sign in to your site

  2. Navigate to Code Enforcement, expand Violations, and select List Navigation menu showing Code Enforcement and Violations options for scheduling inspections. The list option is highlighted.

  3. Search for and select the violation Table displaying violation details, including violation numbers and locations for review. The open-close search box is highlighted.

  • Open or Close Search Box: When you click on this option, the window will expand to view the “violations search parameters”. Here you can search for specific keywords

  • Violation # (Number): Click on the violation # (number) link to open the violation record

  1. Navigate to the Codes tab. Click the Search for and Add Another Code to This Record linkUser interface showing codes violated and a search option to add another code.

  2. Use the Category drop-down or enter Search Terms and then click the Search button to find a codeSearch interface for code database with options for category and search term input. The search button is highlighted.

  • Category: Select a violation category from the category drop-down menu. For example, you can choose code, or code of ordinance

  • Search Term: Type a keyword for a more targeted search. Use quotation marks to find records that match an exact phrase

  • Search Button: Once you make your selection or type in your phrase, click the search button

  1. Select the code or law that will need to be applied to the violation, then click the Add selected codes or laws to current record button Search interface for local ordinance codes with highlighted selection options to add selected codes or laws to a current record.

  • Category: Under the category section, check the box next to the record you want to add a violation to. Then click the “add selected codes or laws to current record” button

  1. Review the added code and make any necessary adjustments Document detailing property code violations regarding tall grass and weeds.

    • Offense: Adjust the code offense

    • Conditions Observed or Corrective Action Required: Note any specific conditions or corrective actions for the violation

    • Penalty or Conclusions: Enter the penalty for the violation

    • Status: Set as open or closed

    • # (Number) of Instances: Used during an inspection. The inspector can increment the count of the number of times the specific violation was observed during an inspection

    • Must be resolved by: Add a date that which the code offense must be resolved

  2. Click Save Violation Button options for saving a violation, canceling, or printing the menu. Save violation is highlighted.
