Communications | Elevate (V5)

Clear communication supports each step of the permit process. This feature lets staff, applicants, and reviewers send and receive messages within the system. Use it to ask questions, share updates, and document key details throughout the application workflow.

Important Note:

This article applies to Elevate V5 permit applications. If your system matches the V4 image below, you may be using a different version. Please visit the V4 permit application guide instead.

Send a New Message

  1. Sign in to your site

  2. Navigate to the Permitting System:

  3. Use the Search field to find the record:

    • Search: Enter a permit number or keyword to search

    • Filter by Status: Filter permits by status. Examples include application in review, pending, building plans in review, closed, or expired

    • Filter by Type: Filter permits by type. Examples include commercial, electrical, plumbing, or residential

    • Filter by Use: Filter permits by use. Examples include roofing, zoning, fire inspection, or construction

  4. Select the Permit record:

  5. Navigate to the Communications tab:

  6. Click Compose and fill out the message details:

    • Select Recipient(s): Select one or more recipients for the message

    • Selected Recipients: Displays the recipients chosen to receive the message

    • Subject: Enter the subject of the message

    • Message: Enter the content of your message

    • Attachments: Upload files to include with the message

  7. Click the Send Message and Email button:

Check Messages

  1. Sign in to your site

  2. Navigate to the Permitting System:

  3. Use the Search field to find the record:

  4. Select the Permit record:

  5. Navigate to the Communications tab. A green circle next to the communications tab means there is a new message:

  6. Click Messages:

    An interface for managing communications with a focus on sending new messages.

    Note:

    If a message is new, you will see a green circle and the word new by the date and time that it was received:

    A red circle next to the date and time means the message has been read:

  7. Select a message to expand and view it:

  8. If you need to reply, click Reply or Reply All:

  9. Compose your message:

  10. Click the Send Reply button:
