About CivicPlus Athena

CivicPlus Athena is an AI agent that assists users with tasks across the CivicPlus Platform and product suite. CivicPlus Athena is aware of the products available to your Organization and can leverage your existing user permissions to complete operations on your behalf. You can interact with CivicPlus Athena by typing a message into the conversation user interface.

AI Agreement

Users must agree to the CivicPlus AI Disclosure prior to interacting with CivicPlus Athena. If you have not already completed this agreement in another product, you will be prompted to do so. You can manage your agreement status in Account Center.


Capabilities

CivicPlus Athena has several features to assist users today and will continue to be enhanced to support additional operations based on interest and demand:

  • Product Knowledge: Integration with the CivicPlus Help Center enables CivicPlus Athena to provide guidance and links to articles in our knowledge base.

    • Example prompt: “Find me an article about managing users.”

  • Staff Center: Athena can manage Users, Groups, and Organization security settings.

    • Example prompt: “Enable two-factor authentication for my organization.”

  • Municipal Websites Central: CivicPlus Athena can create and manage News Flash and Alert Center items, including viewing and adding Categories.

    • Example prompt: “Create and publish an Alert on my website.”

  • Online Code Hosting: CivicPlus Athena can research and summarize content from published municipal codes and ordinances.

    • Example prompt: “Research municipal codes and ordinances related to short-term property rentals.”

  • SeeClickFix 311 CRM: CivicPlus Athena can see assigned issues, follow, and comment on issues.

    • Example prompt: “Show me 311 issues that are assigned to me.”


Safety Features

Enable CivicPlus Athena

In alignment with the CivicPlus Intelligence and AI adoption strategy, Organization Owners can enable CivicPlus Athena for their Organization from Staff Center settings.

  • If enabled, all users associated with the Organization will be able to interact with CivicPlus Athena.

  • If disabled, Staff Center users will enjoy all the benefits of Staff Center, and the conversational agent components will be hidden entirely.

  • Organization owners can always interact with CivicPlus Athena, regardless of the setting.

CivicPlus Athena feature enables AI-powered conversations in the Staff Center for authorized users.

User Permissions Only

CivicPlus Athena can only act using the signed-in user’s permissions. If an action is attempted for which the user lacks permissions, CivicPlus Athena will alert the user.

Human in the Loop

CivicPlus Athena is designed with explicit Human in the Loop (HITL) controls to ensure that any actions taken by the agent that involve creating, updating, or deleting data require explicit confirmation.

Audit Log

Organization owners can access an audit log, which contains the history of all human-in-the-loop transactions that CivicPlus Athena has assisted with.

Only Available Applications

CivicPlus Athena can only assist with Applications that are available to your organization, including those that are purchased or provided as part of the CivicPlus Platform. If a user attempts to interact with an unavailable product, they will receive a relevant reply.
