Authorize.net Credentials for EMV (Card-Present) Transactions

In order for CivicPlus Payments to talk to Authorize.net, we need to have user credentials.

Important Notes

  • These instructions are for existing Authorize.net customers who have already purchased the BBPOS Chipper device. New customers will not be able to take EMV payments.

  • This set of steps is for customers using the 2.X version of the Pay Tray App. We recommend Upgrading to CivicPlus Pay Tray App Version 3.X. Once upgraded, you will no longer be required to change your password every 120 days.

Instructions

  1. Log in to Authorize.net and navigate to User AdministrationAccount configuration settings with highlighted User Administration section in the navigation menu.

  2. Click on Add UserUser administration interface highlighting a link to add a new user account.

  3. Select Transaction Manager or a higher role The User Role drop-down with Transaction Manager highlighted in the list.

  4. Set User PermissionsUser permissions for transaction processing, highlighting the option to create charge transactions.

    Note:

    You will only need the Create charge transaction permission

  5. Click NextThe Next button on the add user screen.

  6. Fill in the User Information fields User Information fields on the Add User screen.

    • Login ID: Choose a Login ID that is unique and appropriate for your situation. This login ID will need to be given to CivicPlus in a later step.

    • First and Last Name: Add the first and last name of the user

    • Title (Optional): List the user's title

    • Phone and Extension: Add a phone number for the user

    • Mobile (Optional): List a mobile phone number

    • Email Address: Enter a valid email address so that you can activate the user

  7. After filling out the form, click SubmitThe Submit button on the Add User page.

  8. Click Request PIN to verify your identity A pop-up window requesting to send an email for identity verification.

  9. Enter the PIN that was sent to you and click Verify PIN A prompt requesting a PIN verification sent to the user's email for security.

  10. You should receive a message saying that your identity has been verified Confirmation message indicating successful identity verification with a continue button.

  11. The user should have received an email to activate their account. If the user does not activate the account, you will not be able to take card-present transactions. User creation confirmation with login ID and activation email details displayed.

  12. When the user gets their activation email, they will be prompted to Request PINA pop-up window requesting to send an email for identity verification.

  13. They should enter the PIN and click Verify PINEmail verification prompt displaying PIN entry and verification button for user authentication.

  14. The user should enter their password and click ActivatePassword creation guidelines including requirements for uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and special characters.

  15. You should now see the user back in the User Administration section of Authorize.net as ActiveUser administration interface showing active account status for Kam Smith and user details.

  16. The username and password for this account should be provided to CivicPlus for use to enable your card-present transactions.
