If you are trying to run an EMV transaction through Authorize.net and you receive an invalid login error, it may be time to update your API user’s password.
Important Notes
These instructions are for existing Authorize.net customers who have already purchased the BBPOS Chipper device. New customers will not be able to take EMV payments.
This article only applies to 2.X versions of the Trap App. If you are using the 2.X version, Authorize.net expires passwords every 120 days. This is not something that CivicPlus can control. Learn how to Upgrade to CivicPlus Pay Tray App Version 3.X.
Only Gateway Configuration Owners can update the password for your organization. If you would like to become a gateway owner, contact our Support team.
Change the Password
First, you will need to update the password. There are multiple ways to do this. You can use the API user’s credentials to log in. Authorize.net may automatically prompt you to change the password if it is close to expiring.
Otherwise, you can change the password in the User Profile. Once you have a new password, follow the instructions below to update it in CivicPlus Payments.
Add the New Password to CivicPlus Payments
Log in to CivicPlus Payments and navigate to the Gateway Configurations tab
Click on the gateway configuration that you would like to update
Scroll down to Account Password and paste in your new password
Click Save
Note: If you are using more than one MID with Authorize.net EMV, you will need to repeat all of these steps (including gathering a new password) with each account.
