Add a Pattern to a Field

This article will show you how to add a pattern to a field.

 

Important Notes

  • “One-off” patterns can apply to fields; this is if you just type into the field of a schema instead of selecting one of the suggestions. These fields do not have a “name” and will show as Advanced
  • Pattern formatting uses RegEx

Instructions

  1. Select the Content Types tab and choose a Content Type option:
    Content Type tab in left navigation.
  2. Click the Settings icon next to the field you would like to add a pattern to and select the Validation tab:
    Validation Tab of the Content Type Settings.
  3. Click inside the Pattern field box and a dropdown menu will appear:
    RegEx Pattern field.
    Note: Not all fields will have the Pattern option.
  4. Select the Pattern you would like to add or create a new RegEx pattern:
    Suggested patterns dropdown list.
  5. Add a Pattern Message:
    pattern message field.
  6. Click the Save button:
    save pattern.
