This article will show you how to upload contacts from a file and export your contacts as a spreadsheet.
Contact List Upload
Multiple contacts can be created/updated at once using the Contact List Upload tool. Contacts must be in a properly formatted spreadsheet (.CSV, .XLS, .XLSX, and .TXT file types are supported). Likewise, new or existing contacts can be added to groups in bulk from here as well.
Important Notes
If you wish to import addresses with your contacts and want to be able to select those individuals using the mapping tool for geo-targeting alerts, please contact Support.
If the file you plan to upload contains existing contacts, ensure that you have their correct contact information in the file to avoid duplicate user creation. Existing users are found/matched based on email or phone numbers.
If contacts and admins are managed through one of our automated or FTP upload processes, the Contact List Upload feature should not be utilized.
Groups must be created prior to using the Contact List Upload tool if you wish to import contacts to a group. For information on how to create groups, view the Add a Public Group and Add an Internal Group articles.
Public sign-up users created with the Contact List Upload feature are automatically activated at creation time.
Sign in to the system if you have not already
Navigate to Resources, then select Manage Directories

Click the Internal Contacts option if you wish to upload internal users, or click the Public Contacts option if you wish to upload public users

Click the Contact List Upload button

Review the Upload Instructions

Note:
Click the Download our sample Excel .XLS file link below the 'Downloading Instructions' list to download a spreadsheet with the proper columns already set up.

Scroll down to the Upload section and click the Choose File button

Use your system's File Explorer dialog to select the file you wish to upload
Click the Update member attributes? checkbox to overwrite contact data for any existing members that appear in the file

Note:
If you only wish to add contacts to a group and do not want to update existing contact data, make sure the Update member attributes checkbox is left unchecked. New contacts will still be created whether the box is checked or not.
If you wish to add the imported contact(s) to a group, select the desired group(s) within the Available groups list

Note:
The selected group(s) will appear within the Selected groups list.
If a group is selected, all new and existing contacts will be added to the selected group(s).
Groups must be created prior to using the Contact List Upload tool if you wish to import contacts to a group.
Click the Show parent groups checkbox below the Selected groups box to expand all parent-child groups.
Click the Submit button

Review the information on the Import Preview page to verify that the appropriate contacts will be created and/or updated

Note:
Click the Return to Upload Page link to return to the upload page and make changes, if necessary.
Click the Submit button

Note:
If you selected any groups during the upload process, you can verify contacts were added to the selected group(s) by navigating to Public Groups or Internal Groups in the left menu and selecting the target group to see the group's contacts.
Review the Import Results page

The uploaded contacts have been imported
Contact List Download
You can use the Contact List Download function to export Internal and Public Contacts lists.
Sign in to the system if you have not already
Navigate to Resources, then select the Manage Directories option

Click the Internal Contacts option if you wish to export internal users, or click the Public Contacts option if you wish to export public users

Click the Contact List Download button

Check the Include Group Memberships checkbox to include information about each contact's group memberships, if desired

Click the Begin Export button to download an Excel file with the contacts

Open and view the Excel file with the contact details
