Create a Secure Chat in the CivicReady App

This article will explain how to create a secure chat using the CivicReady mobile app, which is part of CivicPlus’ Mass Notification system.

Important Notes

  • Chats can be started by administrators with the Super Admin, General Admin, or Send Only roles. The permission to allow a role to start a secure chat can be modified under Manage Roles.

  • Only internal contacts who have downloaded the mobile app and have an admin profile with the "Mobile User + Tasks Lists" role can participate in a secure chat.

Instructions

  1. Ensure you are logged into the CivicReady app

  2. Tap the drawer menu Home screen drawer menu.

  3. Select Secure Chat Drawer menu, secure chat option.

  4. Tap the chat bubble icon in the top right Secure chat bubble.

  5. Select the desired number of participants Number of participants pop-up.

    • Up to 100: Select this option if the intended number of chat participants is 100 or less

    • Up to 300: Select this option if the intended number of chat participants is 300 or less

    Note:

    If you select the Up to 300 option, participants will not receive read receipts or notifications.

  6. Enter a name for the chat in the Chat Name field Enter chat name field.

  7. Tap Select Participants Select Participants field.

  8. Select a Chat Participant source Chat participant source options.

    • Groups View: Tap this option to choose participants by group

    • Contacts List: Tap this option to choose individual participants

  9. Select the circle next to the group(s) or contact(s) that you would like to add to the alert Participant list.

    Note:

    To see users within a group, navigate through the group structure to preview and select individuals within the list of members.Arrow to expand list of group participants.

  10. Tap Done Done button.

  11. Tap Create Create button.

  12. Start messaging

    Note:

    Users can tap the plus (+) icon to share their location, images, and videos.
