Create and Manage Polls in the CivicReady App

This article will show you how to create, answer, and review polls using the CivicReady mobile app for CivicPlus’ Mass Notification system.

Create and Send a Poll

Users can create and send individual poll questions to contacts and groups.

  1. Ensure you are logged into the CivicReady app

  2. Tap the drawer menu App home screen drawer menu.

  3. Tap Send Poll Drawer menu, send poll option.

    Note:

    You can also bypass the drawer menu by selecting the Quick Action Send Poll button on the app home screen.Quick action send poll button.

  4. Tap the Select Template field to apply a pre-existing template to this poll, if desired Select template option.

      1. Select a template Template list.

      2. Tap Ok on the New Template pop-up New template alert.

    Note:

    Selecting a template will return you to the Create Poll form and auto-populate the fields shown in the steps below.

  5. Tap the Recipients field to select poll recipients Recipients field.

    1. Select a recipient directory type Recipient options.

      • Internal Directory: View internal (staff) contacts and groups

      • Public Directory: View public (resident) contacts and groups

    2. Select Add Contacts to add specific contacts as recipients, or select Add Groups to add recipients that are part of pre-existing groups Add contacts and add groups options.

    3. Select the circle next to each group or contact that you would like to add to the poll Internal directory recipient list.

      Note:

      To see users within a group, navigate through the group structure to preview and select individuals within the list of members.Group option.

    4. Tap Done to preview all groups and contacts that have been added to the poll Done button.

    5. Repeat steps 2 through 4 as necessary

    6. Tap the back arrow to return to the recipient directory screen Back button.

    7. Repeat steps 1 through 6 as necessary

    8. Tap the back arrow to return to the Create Poll form Back button.

  6. Tap the Delivery Method field to select the methods that will be used to distribute the poll Delivery method field.

    1. Select the desired delivery methods Delivery method settings.

      Note:

      Toggle the Use default delivery settings option off to make changes to greyed-out settings.

    2. Tap Cancel to make no changes and return to the Create Poll form, or tap Save to save any new selections and return to the Create Poll form Cancel and save options.

      Note:

      The Save option will appear greyed out if you have not made any changes.

  7. Enter a subject for the poll in the Subject field Subject field.

    Note:

    The poll subject can be typed using the keyboard or dictated using your device's microphone.

  8. Add a question to the poll in the Enter Poll Question Enter poll question field.

    Note:

    Poll questions can be typed using the keyboard or dictated using your device's microphone.

  9. Tap the Poll Responses field to enter possible responses for the poll Poll responses field.

    1. Enter a Poll Response Poll response answer option.

      Note:

      Poll responses can be typed using the keyboard or dictated using your device's microphone.

    2. Tap Next on your keyboard Keyboard next button.

    3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 as needed

      Note:

      You must enter at least 2 but no more than 5 poll responses for the poll question.

    4. Tap Save to return to the Create Poll form Save button.

  10. Tap Next Next button.

  11. Preview the poll Poll preview.

  12. Tap Send Send button.

  13. Your poll has been sent

Respond to a Poll

Users can respond to polls within the Mass Notifications system app.

  1. Ensure you are logged into the CivicReady app

  2. Tap the desired poll in the Active Alerts list on the app home screen Active alerts list with example poll.

    Note:

    You can also view your Active Alerts by navigating to the drawer menu and selecting Alerts Received.Drawer menu, alerts received option.

  3. Select a poll response Poll alert screen, response options.

    Note:

    You can only respond to a poll one time.

  4. Tap Confirm on the Confirmation pop-up Response confirmation pop-u.

    Note:

    Tap Change to return to the poll and make another selection.

  5. Tap Ok on the Poll Response Sent Successfully! pop-up Poll response sent pop-up with ok option highlighted.

  6. Your poll response has been recorded

Review Poll Results

Poll senders can review the total count for each response option.

  1. Ensure you are logged into the CivicReady app

  2. Tap the drawer menu Poll drawer menu.

  3. Tap Communication Sent Drawer menu, communication sent option.

  4. Select the desired poll Communication sent list with poll highlighted.

  5. Review the total count for each response option Poll results screen.

    Note:

    To view who responded to each option, tap the option to view more details.Poll response details screen.

Communicate with Poll Respondents

Poll senders can communicate with response groups through secure chat or by creating an alert.

  1. Ensure you are logged into the CivicReady app

  2. Tap the drawer menu Poll drawer menu.

  3. Tap Communication Sent Drawer menu, communication sent option.

  4. Select the desired poll Communication sent list with poll highlighted.

  5. Tap Secure Chat (chat bubble icon) to send secure messages to the poll sender, all poll recipients, or others Poll results screen, secure chat icon.

  6. Or tap Send Alert (arrow icon) to create and send an alert to all poll recipients Poll results screen, alert icon.
