Released Enhancements
Voice Call Functionality Updates
CivicPlus is introducing updates to voice call functionality designed to improve delivery reliability, support more efficient emergency communications, and enhance the overall recipient experience.
There are two primary changes coming to voice notifications:
Voice calls will now be limited to a maximum duration of 2 minutes. This applies to both pre-recorded audio and text-to-speech messages. Any messages longer than 2 minutes will automatically end at the 2-minute mark.
Voice opt-out functionality will now apply to public alerts, including Emergency Telephone Notification (ETN) calls. Recipients will have the ability to opt out of future phone notifications during the call experience.
These updates are designed to support evolving FCC and Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) compliance requirements, improve delivery reliability during high-volume events, and create a better overall experience for recipients. Shorter calls are less likely to be blocked by carriers, are easier for recipients to understand, and help notifications reach more people quickly during emergencies.
We recommend reviewing any existing voice templates or emergency notification scripts to ensure they can be delivered effectively within the new 2-minute limit.
