Frequently Asked Questions
Why is this change happening?
We're migrating Agenda and Meeting Management Essential to the CivicPlus Authentication service to provide a more secure and consistent sign-in experience while laying the foundation for future platform improvements.
When will this change take place?
Beginning August 10, 2026, you'll use the CivicPlus Authentication service when signing in to Agenda and Meeting Management Essential.
Will I lose my account, history, or permissions?
No. Your account, roles, permissions, and application history will remain unchanged as part of this migration.
Can I change the email address associated with my account during the migration?
If you currently sign in using a shared or generic email address (for example, clerk@mycity.gov, admin@mycity.gov, or a similar account) and would like to transition to a unique, individual email address, we can help.
Please contact Support or reach out to your CivicPlus Customer Success Manager (CSM). We'll work with you to update your account before or after the migration to ensure you maintain access to your existing roles, permissions, and account history.
I currently sign in with an email address and password. What do I need to do?
The first time you sign in after the migration, you'll be prompted to verify your email address and create a new CivicPlus password. This is a one-time setup.
I already use CivicPlus Authentication with another product. Do I need to create a new account?
No. Sign in using your existing CivicPlus credentials. No additional setup is required, and you'll be signed in to Agenda and Meeting Management Essential automatically.
What happens if my organization already uses a custom identity provider (IdP) with another CivicPlus product?
CivicPlus Authentication will automatically detect your email address and redirect you to your organization's existing IdP so you can sign in as you normally do.
My organization currently uses Microsoft Sign-In. What do I need to do?
If your organization currently signs in with Microsoft, you can continue accessing your account after the migration by signing in with your email address and completing the one-time password setup.
Your existing account, permissions, and history will remain the same.
Will Microsoft Sign-In continue to work?
Not immediately after the migration.
Organizations that want to continue using Microsoft Sign-In can work with their Customer Success Manager or CivicPlus Support to configure Microsoft as their organization's Identity Provider (IdP) within the CivicPlus Authentication service.
Can we continue using Microsoft Sign-In in the future?
Yes. If your organization would like to continue using Microsoft Sign-In, CivicPlus can configure your organization's Identity Provider after the migration.
Once configured, users will simply enter their email address and be redirected to their organization's Microsoft sign-in page.
Will I end up with two accounts?
No. Your CivicPlus account remains the same regardless of whether you sign in with a CivicPlus password or your organization's Microsoft Identity Provider. Your account information, permissions, and history stay associated with a single user account.
Will I have to recreate my password if my organization later enables Microsoft Sign-In?
No. If your organization later configures Microsoft Sign-In, you'll simply authenticate through Microsoft instead of using your CivicPlus password. Your account remains the same.
Who can request Microsoft Sign-In for our organization?
An administrator for your organization should contact their Customer Success Manager or CivicPlus Support to request Identity Provider (IdP) configuration.
Why am I being asked to create a password if I used Microsoft before?
As part of this migration, Microsoft Sign-In is not automatically carried over for every organization. Creating a CivicPlus password allows you to continue accessing your account immediately. If your organization later chooses to enable Microsoft Sign-In, you'll be able to use it again without losing your account or any of your data.
Are there any additional resources available?
