Merge tags are snippets of auto-populating content dynamically pulled from sources like metadata. Some examples include Section Number, Item Type, Item Number, Meeting Name, and Today's Date. Merge tags are easily identified, as they appear as text in all capital letters set within brackets, such as [TASK_DUE_DATE] and [APPROVALS_LIST].
