Set an Event to Live

This article will show you how to initiate and end a Live Stream in CivicPlus Media.

Instructions

  1. Sign in to the system if you have not already

  2. Navigate to the Events module:The Events module button in the dashboard's left-hand navigation menu.

  3. Select the event you wish to make live:An example event tile in the Events module.

  4. Click the Stream dropdown and select the stream you wish to use for this event if there is not one already selected:The Streaming dropdown and example options on the View Details page.

  5. Click the Save Changes button to save your stream choice, if applicable:A green, rectangular Save Changes button to the right of the View dropdown.

  6. Click the View menu, and select the Live Meeting and Timestamp option from the dropdown list:The View menu with the Live Meeting and Timestamp option highlighted.

  7. In the Recording and Streaming section on the right-hand side of the page, click the Set Live button:A white, rectangular Set Live button under the video window in the Recording and Streaming section.

    Note:

    Make sure you click "Set Live" and not "Start Stream." Only select Start Stream to remotely activate the Matrox Monarch encoder device, if applicable.

  8. The Set Live button will turn into an End Live button, and your meeting will be live to viewers in the Public Portal:A red, rectangular End Live button under the video window in the Recording and Streaming section.

  9. Scroll to the Times section and click the Actual Start Time field's Set to Current Time button to establish your initial timestamp:A white, rectangular Set to Current Time button to the right of the Actual Start Time field.

  10. Navigate to the Pausing section and use the Pause a Live Stream feature to temporarily stop the stream and make it easier for viewers to follow along if desired:A Pausing section with a Pause Stream button, a Show Pause Message checkbox, and a Pause Message text box.

  11. At the end of the meeting, navigate to the Times section and click the Meeting End Time field's Set to Current Time button to establish your ending timestamp:A white, rectangular Set to Current Time button to the right of the Meeting End Time field.

  12. When your meeting is complete, click the End Live button to end the live stream and archive the video of the meeting for future playback, if applicable:A red, rectangular End Live button under the video window in the Recording and Streaming section.

    Note:

    If you are streaming to YouTube, CivicPlus Media will not be recording your event for future playback.

  13. Click the OK button on the "We are currently processing the video on demand and it will be available later" pop-up that appears:A green, square OK button on the popup that explains that the video is being processed.

  14. The video will be processed, and the recording will be uploaded to the Media section of the event and will be available for playback in the Public Portal, if applicable
