Add Alerts to a Page Using the Alert Center Widget

Use the Alert Center widget to display alerts on a page. Alerts highlight important or time-sensitive information, such as closures, notices, or updates. Create and manage alerts in the Alert Center, then add the widget to a page to display them.

Instructions

  1. Log in to your site.

  2. Navigate to the page you would like the alert widget on.

  3. Turn on Live Edit:

  4. Select Widgets and then Modules on the editing toolbar:CivicPlace interface showing modules, widgets, and community holiday options for users. The modules and widget tabs are highlighted.

  5. Drag and drop the Alert Center widget where you would like it on the page:Website interface showing Alert Center and Election Workers information sections. The Alert Center widgets are highlighted.

    Note:

    Make sure you see a dotted container appear in the desired spot on your page before you drop your widget.

  6. Configure your Widget options:Widget options for alerts, including road closures and other categories in the Alert Center.

    • Skin: Allows you to select from a list of pre-created styling options for your widget

      Note: Skin will auto-populate a recommendation based on the location of the widget.

    • Header Text: The text that appears above the calendar. The default is “Alerts”

    • Option Set: Choose the desired option set. In most cases, only the Default option is available, depending on the design

    • Display: Set the number of items to display in your widget

    • Category: Choose the appropriate category

    • View All and Header Link: Configure the view all link text and where the link should go

    • Advanced Options

      • Push: Will put the alert widget on all versions of the page

      • Push Options: Select where you would like the alert widget to appear when pushed to other versions

  7. Select X at the top right corner of the Widget Options box to save your options: Widget options for Alert Center, including skin, header text, and option set fields. The X is highlighted.

  8. Select a Save option: An interface showing options to save or cancel changes in a document editor.

    • Save: Will save the changes you have made in a draft to be published later

    • Save as Copy: Will save the changes

    • Save and Publish (draft pages only): Will save the changes and publish them to the live site

    • Cancel: Will delete the changes

  9. View your Alert Center Widget: An overview of alerts for election workers about closed locations and options to view or notify.
