Configure, Edit, and Delete a Widget

Use widget options to configure, edit, or delete a widget on a page. These settings control how the widget displays and allow you to update or remove it without editing the page layout.

Important Note:

  • The Display option can be changed for the following widgets:

    • Alert Center

    • Info Advanced

    • Calendar

    • Community Voice

    • FAQs

    • Graphic Links

    • News Flash

    • Quick Links

    • RSS

Configure a Widget

  1. Sign in to your site

  2. Navigate to the page that contains the widget you would like to modify and turn on Live Edit:The CivicPlus dashboard shows emergency alerts and a highlighted live edit status for Municipal Websites

  4. Configure options as needed:The widget options menu displays various settings and categories for customization.

    • Skin: Default is recommended

      Note:

      If you are a current customer going through a redesign, you can preview what any existing skin applications will look like with the new design applied by following the instructions in the article Using Your Interior Page Preview Extension.

    • Header Text: Text that will appear above the widget

    • Option Set: Default is recommended

    • Number of Columns: Indicate how many columns you would like in the widget

    • Display: Set the number of items to display in your widget

      Note:

      If there are more items in your category than the count in this field, your residents will see a "View All" link.

    • Category: Choose the appropriate category or categories

      Note:

      A category must be published and have at least one published question to show on the front end. If it still does not show, check that a category is selected in the widget options.

    • Carousel Options: These options only apply to News Flash widget option sets with the Carousel option enabled.

      • Minimum Allowable Item Width: Indicate the area of the minimum item width

      • Maximum Allowable Item Width: Indicate the area of the maximum item width

      • Space Between Items: Indicate the area between items (40px or higher is recommended)

    • AdvancedThe widget options menu shows advanced settings and push options for page versions.

      • Widget Breakpoint: Width at which the widget will switch from a narrow to a wide view

      • Push To All Versions of this Page: Add a copy of this widget to all versions of this page

      • Push To All Subpages of this Page: Add a copy of this widget to all subpages of this page

      • Push Options: Choose where to put the widget within pushed pages

        Note:

        Widget options may vary based on the widget you are configuring.

  5. Select X to exit the widget options window: Widget options menu displaying various settings and categories for customization. The red X is highlighted.

  6. Select a Save option: The emergency alerts page shows recent news and a highlighted save button.

    • Save: Saves the changes made

    • Save as Copy: Will save the changes as a separate copy

    • Cancel: Will cancel all of the changes made

    • Actions: Will have options to copy the link to a page or to preview the current page


Edit a Widget on a Homepage

  1. Sign in to your site

  2. Navigate to the Homepage:

  3. Ensure that Live edit is on:

  4. Click the Container Inheritance Options lock attached to a widget on your page:

  5. Within the Container Inheritance window, select the Inherit this container’s widgets from Home 2 - Layout Page option:

  6. Locate the widget you want to edit

  7. Hover over the widget you are editing and click the Widget Options handle:

  8. Update the Widget Options as desired:

    Note:

    Widget options may vary based on the widget you are configuring.

  9. Click the Close/X button to exit the Widget Options:

  10. Click the page’s Save button:

    The emergency alerts page shows recent news and a highlighted save button.


Delete a Widget

  1. Sign in to your site

  2. Navigate to the page that contains the widget you would like to modify and turn on Live Edit:

  3. Hover over the widget you wish to remove and click the X in the top right corner:

  4. Click OK on the pop-up that says, Are you sure you want to delete this Widget?:

  5. Click the Save button:
