Create and Manage Hyperlinks in Page Content

This article will show you how to create a hyperlink in Pages using the Editor Widget.

Who can use this feature?

System Administrators | Owners | Publishers | Authors

  1. Sign in to your website solution.

  2. Copy the URL address of the desired destination for your hyperlink.

  3. Navigate to your page.

  4. Ensure that the Live Edit state is toggled to ON: CivicPlus interface showing Municipal Websites Central with live editing feature activated.

  6. Type, highlight, or select the text you want to turn into a hyperlink:

    Note:

    Link text should help users understand the purpose of the link from the text alone. Learn more about successful link text by visiting the W3Schools Accessibility Link Text page.

  7. Click the Insert Link button on the Editor widget toolbar: Editor widget with highlighted text.

  8. Paste the URL or email address of the desired destination in the URL field: A dialog box for inserting a URL with text options.

    • Open in New Tab Checkbox: Click to open the link in a new tab (this is recommended for external links)

  1. Sign in to your site.

  2. Copy the URL address of the desired destination for your hyperlink.

  3. Navigate to your page.

  4. Ensure that the Live Edit state is toggled to ON:

  5. Locate the hyperlink you want to update. Click it to display the Link Menu Options:

  6. Click the Pencil icon to update or modify the link destination:

  7. Update the link so it points to the new destination:The editing interface shows a quote by C.S. Lewis and a URL link.

  8. Click the Update button:

  9. Click the Checkmark button:

  10. Navigate to and select a Save option:

    • Save: Saves your changes to the current version of the page and updates it directly

    • Save as Copy: Saves your changes as a new version of the page, leaving the original version unchanged
