News Flash Category Tag Readability Restored

Resolved an issue where the category tag on News Flash articles was displayed as white text, making it unreadable on some sites. The category tag now displays proper contrast in all scenarios, ensuring users can easily identify the category associated with each news item.

Accessibility Enhancements

  • Calendar Focus Shift Issue: Resolved focus shift issue in the calendar widget to maintain user context during interaction.

  • Unique Labels for Navigation Landmarks (WCAG 1.3.1): Navigation regions now include unique, programmatically determinable labels, allowing screen reader users to clearly distinguish between different site landmarks such as main navigation and breadcrumbs. This update improves accessibility and ensures compliance with WCAG 1.3.1 Info and Relationships requirements.

  • Social Media Links Now Use Semantic List Markup on Jobs Page (WCAG 1.3.1): Social media links on the Jobs page are now grouped using proper HTML list markup, allowing screen readers to announce them as a related set and indicate the total number of items. This update improves navigation and clarity for users of assistive technology, supporting WCAG 2.1 Info and Relationships requirements.

  • Calendar Module Improvements (Multiple WCAG Criteria): We have addressed several accessibility issues in the Calendar and breadcrumb navigation, including correcting heading hierarchy, improving screen reader narration for breadcrumbs and controls, ensuring disabled buttons are not focusable, and aligning keyboard navigation order with the visual layout. These updates enhance usability for assistive technology users and ensure compliance with WCAG guidelines for headings, landmarks, focus order, and control semantics.

  • NotifyMe Module Improvements (Multiple WCAG Criteria): Significant accessibility improvements have been made to the NotifyMe module and breadcrumb navigation. Updates include consistent heading structures, native button semantics, improved ARIA roles and labels, and enhanced screen reader support, ensuring a more accessible experience for users of assistive technology and supporting compliance with WCAG guidelines.

  • MyAccount ADA Compliance Improvements: Multiple accessibility issues in the MyAccount area have been resolved, including improved labeling for navigation regions, correct announcement of breadcrumb and dialog content, proper keyboard focus management, and accurate roles for interactive controls. These updates ensure a more accessible experience for screen readers and keyboard users, supporting WCAG 2.1 compliance and enhancing usability for all visitors.

  • Bids Module | Descriptive “Read On” Link Text for Accessibility (Criteria 2.4.4): Improved the accessibility of Bids listing links by adding descriptive aria labels and supporting visually hidden text to better convey each link’s purpose.

  • Carousel Widget: The Carousel widget now features enhanced accessibility, including improved keyboard navigation and screen reader support for all controls and navigation buttons. These updates ensure a more inclusive experience for users with assistive technologies and align with ADA compliance standards.

  • Forms: Ensuring only one H1 heading is present per page and enhancing compatibility with screen readers and keyboard navigation. These updates improve compliance with accessibility standards and provide a more inclusive experience for all users.

  • Jobs Page Screen Reader and Navigation Improvements: We have resolved several accessibility issues on the Jobs page, including improved screen reader announcements for breadcrumbs, accurate programmatic labels for sidebar navigation, and proper list markup for job details and social media links. These updates ensure a more accessible experience for users relying on assistive technologies, providing clearer navigation cues and content structure in compliance with W3C accessibility standards.

  • Site Map: Completed a comprehensive update to the Site Map, ensuring accurate keyboard navigation, screen reader compatibility, and proper heading structure. These enhancements improve usability for all users and support ongoing ADA compliance efforts.

  • AI Graphic Links Announce Correctly: Improved accessibility for graphic links, including social media icons, ensuring they are now properly announced by screen readers and accessible via keyboard navigation. This update enhances usability for all users and supports compliance with accessibility standards.
