Container Inheritance

Container Inheritance allows you to have the same format on multiple pages and only have to change it in one place. The main page is called the parent page, while the subpages are called child pages. The option is usually found in the footer of a page when selecting the container.

Who can use this feature?

System Administrators

Set Container Inheritance

  1. Sign in to your site

  2. Navigate to your desired page

  3. Hover over the desired container and click the Container Inheritance Options/Lock button Latest news section featuring container inheritance options and a lock icon.

  4. Select Subpages of this page inherit this container's widgets from the container optionsContainer inheritance options with the Subpages of this page inherit the container's widgets option highlighted.

    Note:

    You may not receive a pop-up asking to save changes. In this case, inheritance has been set.

  5. Click Save Changes and Set InheritanceInheritance prompt asking to save changes with options to discard or cancel.


Stop Container Inheritance

  1. Sign in to your site

  2. Navigate to your desired page

  3. Hover over the desired container and click the Container Inheritance Options lock buttonLatest news section with a highlighted lock for container inheritance options.

  4. Click Stop Inheritance Container inheritance settings with options to stop inheritance or return to the home page.

  5. If applicable, choose an option for any existing containers on subpages

    Container inheritance options with buttons to start with existing content or copy the current container.
