Instructions

  1. Click Site Tools, and then click Redirects
Site Tools menu with Redirects selected in the sub-menu.

  2. Select desired domain
    Select the domain.

    • All Sites: By selecting this option, you will apply the Redirect to all your domains; this is the most recommended option

    • By selecting an actual domain the redirect will only be active for that domain

      Note:

If you choose this route you will need to add the redirect to the www and non-www domain - e.g. www.civicplus.com and civicplus.com.

  3. Select the redirect you want to modify The name of the redirect, in the Link From column.

  4. Modify the redirect The Redirect text entry fields, check boxes, and dropdown fields.

    • Link From: This is the end of the shortened URL, which will display as the redirect, such as /Parade

      Note:

      • You will need to include the /, however, do not include a full URL.

      • For security reasons, the following extensions have been restricted from use in the redirects module: .axd and .js.

    • Link To: This is where the shortened URL will go, such as /78/2017-Annual-Parade

      • A Full URL is the complete web address for a page or website. For example, http://civicplus.com/78/2017-Annual-Parade is a Full URL.

      • A Relative URL is the ending section of a Full URL. It is the part of a web address that comes after .com, .gov, .org, or whatever the top-level domain of your website may be. For example, /78/2017-Annual-Parade is the Relative URL of http://civicplus.com/78/2017-Annual-Parade.

    • Retain URL: Controls if the Link From shows once the destination loads

      Note:

By doing this, if a user moves away from the page it will still keep the Link From address.

    • Retain Query String: Controls whether query string parameters will be carried over to the From URL

      • A query string is a part of a URL containing data that does not conveniently fit into a hierarchical path structure. It commonly includes fields added to a base URL by a Web browser or other client application, for example, as part of an HTML form.

    • Retain Path: Controls if the path from From URL shows once the destination loads

    • Match Query String: Controls if the redirect will require the query string to match

    • Display: Controls the redirect to only be active during a certain period of time

  5. Click Save Changes
Save Changes button in the top right corner of the Redirects page.
