Create and Manage Announcements

Designating a News item as an Announcement will create a banner across all pages of your site to draw attention to that piece of News. We recommend using this feature for major events or news items such as election day, polling, boil water notices, or weather emergencies. This feature is not intended for daily news items.

Announcements can be set to end automatically or turned off manually.

Create an Announcement

  1. Navigate to the News page

  2. Click Edit The button labeled Edit in the bottom left corner of the page, to the right of the View button.

  3. Click the News tab The tab labeled News in the left-hand navigation menu.

  4. Click the News Type dropdown The dropdown menu labeled News Type, below the News Date field.

  5. Click Announcement The option labeled Announcement at the bottom of the list.

  6. Type the Start Date and End Date for the announcement in Month/Day/Year format The month, day, and year fields labeled Announcement Start Date and Announcement End Date.

    Note:

    Alternatively, you may select a date using the drop-down calendar.
    The calendar icon to the right of the date field, and the date on the calendar.

  7. Click Save The button labeled Save in the bottom left corner of the page.

  8. View the Announcement banner across the top of the page The red Announcement banner spanning the top of the page.

Disable an Announcement

  1. Navigate to the News page designated as the Announcement

  2. Click Edit The button labeled edit in the bottom left corner of the page, to the right of the View button.

  3. Click the News tab The left-hand navigation tab labeled News.

  4. Click the News Type dropdown The dropdown menu labeled News Type, below the News Date field.

  5. Select a News Type that is not an Announcement alt

  6. Click Save
    The Save button.
