Learn how to convert an image-only PDF to a PDF with machine-encoded (searchable) text in RapidReview.

Instructions

  1. Open the request An example request.

  2. Click Launch RapidReview (wrench icon) The Launch Rapidreview icon.

  3. Click on the More Actions (three-dot) icon on the document card and select OCR file from the drop-down The three-dot icon on the example document card with the OCR file option highlighted within the drop-down.

  4. Click the OCR file button on the pop-up window to confirm The blue, rectangular OCR file button in the lower-right corner of the OCR this document? pop-up.

    Note:

The OCR process will replace the original document with a machine-readable document. OCR as a service is not able to produce a fully readable document 100% of the time, and will largely depend on the document uploaded. You will not be able to undo this process..

  5. An alert will inform you when your OCR process is complete; depending on the size of the document, this could take anywhere from 30 seconds to many minutes

    Note:

If your OCR was unsuccessful, it may be that the image was saved in a format other than image-only. Currently, images that already have some machine-encoded text are not able to be processed further by the NextRequest OCR feature. This includes Vectorized PDFs. If your PDF has multiple image files (for example as a result of the scanning process) you may need to convert it to a simple raster image to use the NextRequest OCR function
