Apple and Google Mobile Wallet Integration Overview

Prev Next

Members can add their digital membership cards to Apple Wallet and Google Wallet. This gives them fast, convenient access right from their phone. No more carrying a physical card or pulling up their account.

Digital wallet passes work like other passes members already use, such as boarding passes and event tickets. For staff, there is nothing new to manage. Passes are issued and kept in sync automatically as part of the existing membership lifecycle.

Before You Start

Digital membership cards must be enabled for the relevant membership session before members can add their cards to a mobile wallet. See the Digital Membership Cards Overview article for setup steps.

Once this setting is on, staff can send members their digital membership cards two ways. They can send a card during a transaction, or send a card on demand at any time. Both ways let members add the card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. See the Digital Membership Cards Overview article for steps on sending cards each way.

Video Overview

In this training, we'll walk through everything you need to know. From adding a pass to Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, to how staff can send cards directly to residents, to how passes stay synced with renewals, cancellations, and expirations, your team will feel confident and ready to get started.

Let's dive in.

Sending Cards to Members

Staff can send members their digital membership cards two ways:

  • During a Transaction: When a staff member reaches the Transaction Receipt step, a Membership Cards option appears and can be emailed to the member right away.

  • On Demand: Staff can email a card to a member at any time from the member's account. This does not require a transaction.

Both methods send the member an email containing their digital membership card, along with the option to add it to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. See the Digital Membership Cards Overview article for more information on sending cards to members.

Staff can also send a card to a parent’s email so the parent can download their child’s card to a mobile wallet. The parent’s email must be linked to an account in Recreation Management to log in and download the card. They will still receive the email if their address is not linked. Note, the person downloading the card must be in the same household as the membership.

Member Experience

Once a member receives their digital membership card, they can add it to their mobile wallet from either a transaction receipt or their online account.

Membership Transaction

Residents have access to their digital membership cards immediately when finishing a transaction with a membership. A Membership Cards section on the Receipt screen shows their QR code or barcode (or both), with an option to add their card to Apple or Google Wallet.

When checking out from a desktop device, clicking the "Add to Apple Wallet" or "Add to Google Wallet" option opens an Add to [Apple/Google] Wallet pop-up that shows a QR code. Users can scan the QR code with their mobile device to save the pass to their mobile wallet. They can also email a link using the Email recipient option.

Online Account

Users can navigate to “Manage Memberships” in their online account to view their digital membership cards. Selecting a membership in the memberships list shows the digital membership card and the option to add it to a preferred mobile wallet.

Members may want to share a pass with another household member from their wallet. Staff can point them to the following resources, which explain how sharing works:
