Gate Kicker Setup

Prev Next

This article will show you how to configure and install a Gate Kicker device.

Important Notes:

  • The Gate Kicker Integration is not currently a service CivicPlus provides, nor it is supported by our technical teams. However, CivicPlus customers may independently follow the instructions below to configure their Gate Kicker devices. CivicPlus customers have had mixed success depending on their unique entry point configuration(s) in the field. CivicPlus recommends customers consult with their dedicated IT departments for assistance during setup

  • Successful check-ins to the configured membership packages will trigger the Gate Kicker that is connected to the computer performing check-ins. Gate Kicker is only configurable with the Check-In a Membership Card option located in the upper right of the page and not within the Activities module

  • The Gate Kicker device is needed for this installation in addition to gate turnstiles

  • The Gate Kicker Integration is required to be tied directly to the workstation and facility point-of-entry that a member is scanning into due to the software’s timeout feature. Recreation Management (formerly, CivicRec) must be active to allow for scan-ins and gates to open

  • Daisy-chaining, use of APIs, or supplemental hardware use from the primary workstation to a different point of entry is not supported with Gate Kicker

  • When patrons are scanning into a facility to initiate Gate Kicker entry, it will not conflict with any other Recreation Management processes as long as the staff has their cursor in the scan field (for the system to ‘catch’ the scan) or utilize the instant scan functionality

Alternatives

Axess is an alternative that offers APIs and a wider range of technological configurations. This is a CivicPlus-supported integration and therefore comes with an additional fee. Axess' expertise in this area has allowed for a successful outcome with many CivicPlus customers. Please work with your CivicPlus contact if you're interested in this service
