Create an Asset

  1. Sign In to Asset Management

  2. Click the Asset tab, if necessary
    Asset tab in Asset Management.

  3. Click the Create button
    Create button in the Asset tab.

  4. Select an asset class
    An Asset Class in the Create Asset tab.

  5. Place the location of the asset on the map
    Legend window.

    • Longitude and Latitude: Manually enter the latitude and longitude of the asset
      Latitude and Longitude text input fields.

    • Use My Location: Place the location of the asset at your physical location
      Use My Location button.

    • Draw a location on the map

  6. Click the X to close the window
    X button in the Legend modal.

  7. Complete the Properties fields
    Text input fields under the Identification, Properties, and Location headers.

  8. Click the Save
    Save button in the Properties tab.

    Note:

    The available fields will vary based on the customer’s needs.

Draw a Location on the Map

  1. Select the appropriate Geometry Type

    Notes:

    • To complete a drawing, double-click your mouse. On a touchscreen device, you will need to do a long tap to complete the drawing. The color will change to yellow when completed.

    • You can clear out a drawing by clicking “Clear All”:
      Clear All button below the Geometry Type dropdown menu.

    • Point: Click the map at the location
      Point selected in the Geometry Type dropdown.

    • Line: Draw a line on the map

      1. Set the Geometry Type to Line. Check the Snap feature to align with nearby features
        Line selected in the Geometry Type dropdown menu.

        Note:

        Check the Snap box to align with nearby features
        Snap checkbox.

      2. Click a point on the map to create the starting point of the line
        Starting point for a line on a map.

      3. Move your cursor to the next point and click again to create a segment
        Additional point for a line on a map.

        Note:

        To add intersections, click on the line itself, not the endpoints

      4. Repeat as needed to draw additional connected segments
        Point placed on an existing line segment on a map.

        Note:

        For water pipe assets, the direction in which you draw the line will determine the flow direction, depending on your user permissions.

    • Polygon:

      1. Set the Geometry Type to Polygon
        Polygon selected in the Geometry Type dropdown.

        Note:

        Check the Snap box to align with nearby features
        Snap checkbox.

      2. Click on the map to place the first corner of the polygon
        Start point placed on the map for a polygon shape.

      3. Click a new point for each additional corner
        Point placed on the map to create a polygon edge.

      4. Click on the starting point to complete the polygon
        Endpoint of a polygon placed on the start point to complete the shape.

        Note:

        You may also double-click to place a point and automatically complete the polygon

      5. Modify the polygon as needed

        Note:

        • Click on an existing point to reshape the polygon

        • Click a new spot on any line to create a new point and change the shape of the polygon
          A new point created on an existing polygon line.

  2. Click the X to close the window
    X button in the Legend modal.

  3. Complete the Properties fields
    Text input fields under the Identification, Properties, and Location headers.

    Note:

    The available fields will vary based on the customer’s needs.

  4. Click Save
    Save button in the Properties tab.
