If you’re using an external processor for in-person payments, you’ll likely need compatible payment devices (such as card readers or terminals) that connect to that provider’s gateway. This article explains common device options, how they work, and what to consider when setting up in-person payments.’
What are Payment Devices?
Payment devices are the hardware used to accept in-person transactions, including swipe, chip, tap, or contactless payments. These are provided by your external processor and are configured to communicate with their gateway for transaction processing.
Important Note
We will provide you with configuration settings necessary for the devices that you acquire from the external processors, as well as IP and port information for their firewall. We will also assist with troubleshooting API connectivity. However, we do not troubleshoot payment device errors. Those errors should be reported to your IT department, external processor, or hardware manufacturer.
