Some of your residents may attempt to pay with international credit cards or enter foreign postal codes. This article explains how international transactions are handled by our system and what to expect when ZIP code verification (AVS) is involved.
Can We Accept International Cards?
Yes. CivicPlus Payments supports most internationally issued credit and debit cards. However, acceptance is subject to the resident’s issuing bank approving the transaction. If a card is declined, it’s often due to bank-specific restrictions or mismatches in the billing address.
What About Zip Code Verification?
Most U.S.-based systems use AVS to validate the billing ZIP code for fraud prevention. Your international customers may be asked to enter a postal code during checkout. Even though the postal code is a requirement, your international customers may enter any alphanumeric value, up to 15 characters, which will not be validated by our system. Please note that U.S. customers still need to enter a valid 5-digit zip / postal code associated with their credit card.
