Gateway Hardware Overview

CivicPlus requires chip readers (EMV) and magnetic stripe readers to be purchased directly from the payment gateway provider. CivicPlus team members will provide customers with configuration settings necessary for their payment terminal, as well as IP (internet protocol) and port information for their firewall, and can assist with troubleshooting API (application program interface) connectivity. However, CivicPlus Support does not troubleshoot terminal errors from your payment terminal. Those errors should be reported to your IT (information technology) department, payment gateway provider, or hardware manufacturer.

 

Important Note

All integrated payment gateways do not allow for the use of unencrypted plain swipers.

Primary Gateway Requirements

CardPointe

Payment Terminal Requirements Tray Application Requirements
  • Internet is required
  • LAN (local area network) Ethernet connection is only required if the device does not have the ability to connect using Wi-Fi/LTE
 Not Applicable (CardPointe EMV logic is built directly into CivicPlus Pay's online hosted form, so there is no tray app.)

  • Clover Mini (can connect using ethernet or Wi-Fi/LTE)
  • Clover Flex (connect using Wi-Fi/LTE)

CSG Forte

A Gateway account must be enabled for EMV transactions.
  • Must use the CSG Forte device drivers
  • Windows 10

Global Payments Integrated

  • The terminal must be capable of communicating over USB (universal serial bus)
  • The terminal must be capable of communicating with Remote Control Manager

  • Must use the CivicPlus Pay Tray Application provided by CivicPlus.
  • Must use version 2.0.1.0 or higher

Converge

  • The integration is certified for use with the Ingenico Lane 3000 and Ingenico Lane 5000.
  • The terminal must be used in USB (universal serial bus) Mode
  • The terminal must be capable of communicating with ConvergeConnect
  • Must use ConvergeConnect Commerce Web Services (CWS)
  • For the Lane 3000 and 5000, you must use 4.5 or higher

 

** Only the CWS versions tested by CivicPlus Pay should be used. The latest version is available for download.
CivicPlus has received certification from Elavon Converge for the following devices. CivicPlus does not formally endorse or require a specific device:
  • Ingenico Lane 3000*
  • Ingenico Lane 5000**

Heartland

The following gateways do not have any hardware supported:

  • Braintree
  • NCR: JetPay
  • PayPal Payflow
