Froala Editor Replaces CK Editor in Board Portal
To improve consistency, usability, and accessibility across the Agenda and Meeting Management Select platform, the Froala WYSIWYG Editor has replaced the legacy CK Editor within all editable fields in the Board Portal. This update aligns the Board Portal with the modern editing experience used in V8 Admin. It provides a cleaner interface, improved performance, and better mobile and assistive tech support.
Key Improvements
Private Notes (Agendas): Froala Editor fully replaces CK Editor for note-taking
Comments & Discussion (Minutes): Froala is now used in read-only mode, preserving display formatting
Streamlined Interface: Fullscreen is the only active toolbar button, ensuring minimal distractions
Content Continuity: All previously saved CK Editor content is preserved and compatible
Accessibility: Editor is responsive and meets WCAG 2.2 Level AA standards
Device Support: Fully functional across supported desktop and mobile browsers, including iPad Safari
Expectations
Board members benefit from a more intuitive and reliable editing experience. This helps ensure all notes remain secure, accessible, and role-appropriate.
WCAG 2.2 Admin Portal Improvements
Criterion 1.2.1 | Audio Only & Video Only: All Media Pages Within V8 Admin
To strengthen CivicPlus’ commitment to accessibility and compliance, a full audit and targeted remediation were completed across all Media-related pages within the V8 Admin Portal. This helps address WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 Level AA requirements. This effort focused on Success Criterion 1.2.1: Audio-only and Video-only (Prerecorded). It mandates that alternatives (such as transcripts or descriptions) be provided for media lacking both audio and video. This helps ensure equal access for users with visual or hearing impairments.

Outcome
All known accessibility deficiencies identified during the audit were remediated in this release. Updates include:

Adjustments to support screen reader interpretation of media components
Expectations
Admin Portal Media pages now better support inclusive access and meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA standards. These improvements reduce compliance risk. They also enhance the usability of the platform for all users, including those relying on assistive technologies.
