Find an Event on the Public Portal

The Public Portal includes built-in navigation that allows residents to quickly jump to past, current, and upcoming events with continuous scrolls, an embedded calendar, and full-text searching and filtering options. This article will show you how to leverage the Public Portal's navigation options to locate a specific event.

Important Note

The images in this article show a standard Public Portal with few modifications. The layout and appearance of your Public Portal may differ depending on your municipality's customizations.

Scroll the Events List to Find an Event

  1. Navigate to your Public Portal:An example Public Portal homepage.

  2. Navigate to the Events List:The Events List in the center of the Public Portal homepage.

  3. Use this section's scrollbar or your mouse, or touchpad's scroll option to scroll up or down to the desired timeframe:The scrollbar to the right of the Events List.

    Note:

    You can scroll up to view meetings that have already taken place, and scroll down to view upcoming meetings (if applicable). You can also quickly jump to current meetings by clicking the View Today button above the Events List.

  4. Click the desired event:An example meeting in the Events List.

  5. The Public Portal will open the default event page set by your municipality


Use the Mini Calendar to Find an Event

  1. Navigate to your Public Portal:The Public Portal homepage.

  2. Navigate to the Mini Calendar:The Mini Calendar in the upper-left corner of the Public Portal homepage.

  3. Use the Mini Calendar function to choose the specific date or date range that you are looking for

    • Find a specific date using the Month and Year dropdown

      1. Click the Month and Year dropdown:The Mini Calendar Month and Year dropdown button.

      2. Click the desired year:The Mini Calendar Month and Year dropdown Year Picker with an example year highlighted.

      5. Events for the selected date will appear in the Events List:An example meeting in the Events List.

    • Find a specific date using the Mini Calendar arrows

      1. Click the Previous Month (left arrow) and Next Month (right arrow) buttons to navigate to the desired month and yearThe Previous Month and Next Month arrows in the upper-right corner of the Mini Calendar.

      2. Click the desired day:An example day highlighted in the Mini Calendar Day Picker.

      3. Events for the selected date will appear in the Events List:An example meeting in the Events List.

    • View meetings within a specific date range using a start and end date

      1. Click the From Date field to manually enter a date in the mm/dd/yyyy (two-digit month/two-digit day/four-digit year) format:The From Date field which appears below the Mini Calendar dates section.

        Note:

        You can also click the Calendar icon on the right side of the From Date field to select a start date using the Calendar Picker:The Mini Calendar From Date field calendar button and dropdown Calendar Picker.

      2. Click the To Date field to manually enter a date in the mm/dd/yyyy (two-digit month/two-digit day/four-digit year) format:The To Date field which appears below the From Date field.

        Note:

        You can also click the Calendar icon on the right side of the To Date field to select an end date using the Calendar Picker:The Mini Calendar From Date field calendar button and dropdown Calendar Picker.

      3. Events that fall within the specified date range will appear in the Events List:An example meeting in the Events List.

        Note:

        If no events fall within the filtered dates set for a Public Portal search, a "No events found" message will be displayed:An example 'No events found' message in the Events List.

  4. Click the desired event:An example meeting in the Events List.

  5. The Public Portal will open the default event page set by your municipality


Use the Event Categories Filter to Find an Event

  1. Navigate to your Public Portal:The Public Portal homepage.

  2. Navigate to the Event Categories field:The Event Categories field which appears above the Events List.

  3. Type an event category into the Event Categories field, or check one or more Event Category checkboxes:The Event Categories dropdown with various checkbox options.

    Note:

    You can check the Select All checkbox to automatically select all event categories.

  4. All events assigned to the selected event categories will appear in the Events List:An example list of meetings for the selected Event Categories in the Events List.

    Note:

    If no events fall within the parameters set for a Public Portal search, a "No events found" message will be displayed:An example 'No events found' message in the Events List.

  5. Use the Mini Calendar to select a specific date or date range, or use the Event List scrollbar or your mouse or touchpad's scroll option to scroll to the desired timeframe, if needed:The Public Portal Mini Calendar and the Events List scrollbar.

  7. The Public Portal will open the default event page set by your municipality


Use the Search Function to Find an Event

  1. Navigate to your Public Portal:The Public Portal homepage.

  2. Navigate to the Search field:The Search field which appears above the Events List.

  3. Type a keyword(s) into the Search Bar, then click the Search button (magnifying glass icon) to the right of your search term(s) or press the Enter key on your keyboard:The Search Bar with example text entered and the Search icon.

  4. All results related to your keyword(s) will appear in the Events List:Example search results in the Events List.

    Note:

    If no events fall within the parameters set for a Public Portal search, a "No events found" message will be displayed:An example 'No events found' message in the Events List.

  5. Click the Search Filters button and check one or more filter checkboxes to narrow down the search results, if desired:The Search Filters button dropdown with various filter checkboxes.

    Notes:

    • You can check the Select All checkbox to automatically select all filters.

    • You can apply one or more filters even if no keyword is entered. Results are immediately updated based on the selected options.

  6. Use the Mini Calendar to select a specific date or date range, or use the Event List scrollbar or your mouse or touchpad's scroll option to scroll to the desired timeframe, if needed:The Public Portal Mini Calendar and the Events List scrollbar.
