Add Google Analytics to Your Site

Important Note:

Any analytics provided with your website will already be set up and configured as part of the implementation process. Learn about the differences between a CivicPlus-created Google Analytics account and one you may have created and installed on your site. If you would like to use your own, follow the steps below.

Instructions

  1. Navigate to the Google Marketing Platform

  2. Click Sign In to Analytics if you have an existing account, or click Start For Free if you want a new account The link labeled Sign in to Analytics and the blue button labeled Start for free, in the top right corner below the Partners and Support options.

  3. Scroll down and select AdminThe gear icon with admin text in bottom left corner of the screen.

  4. Select Data Streams and click on a Data Stream to open The Data Stream option in the left-hand menu, followed by the appropriate dat stream under the Data Streams header to the right of the options menu.

  5. Scroll down and click Configure tag settingsThe option labeled Configure tag settings beneath the Google Tag header.

  6. Select the Installation instructions link The link labeled Installation instructions to the right of the Your Google tag header.

  7. Copy the tag script under the Install manually tab The Install manually option to the right of the Install with a website builder or CMS options, followed by the two rectangles copy button in top right corner of the script box.

  8. If you want to install your tracking solution for an entire site, send the tag script to our Support Team

    Note: If you want to track a section of pages, or a specific page only, our article on Page Tags has additional information for adding it to just a specific page or set of pages.
