Modify an Existing Alert Item

Instructions

  1. Sign in to your site.

  2. Navigate to Modules. Click on Content, and then Alert Center:

    The navigation menu highlights the Alert Center option in the Municipal Websites Central interface.

  3. Select a category:

    The Alert Center displays various alert categories with Emergency Alert highlighted.

  4. Click Actions for the Alert you want to modify:

  5. Click Modify:

  6. Edit the information, as needed:

    • Title: Enter the title of the alert

    • Link(s): Add one or more links associated with the alert

      Note:

      These changes affect only mailing lists created after the changes are made. You must manually update existing mailing lists in their properties

      • Web Address: Enter the URL for the link

      • Display Text: Enter the text displayed for the link

      • Open in New Window: Select this box to open the link in a new browser window or tab

      • Link Item, Image, Read On, RSS, and Notifications to this Web Address: Select this box to use the web address for the alert item, image, Read On link, RSS feed, and notifications

    • Brief Description: Enter a brief summary of the alert. You are limited to 250 characters

    • Full Description: Enter the full alert details

    • Updates: Displays updates associated with the alert

      • Add Update: Add a new update to the alert

      • Edit: Modify the selected update

      • Archive: Archive the selected update

      • Alert Details: Displays when the alert was created and last modified

    • Alert Bar: Select where the alert bar is displayed. Options include None, All Pages, Home Page Only, and Department Page and Subpages

      Note:

      The Alert Bar will only show 2 alerts at once.

    • Alert Bar Text: Name that appears on the Alert Bar

      Note:

      Leaving the text as "Emergency Alert" does not override the Alert Bar text. The Alert Bar text is overridden only when you enter custom text.

    • Upload Image(s): Add related photos to the alert

    • “Read On…” Text: Determine how the link will be displayed if there is a Full Description

    • Alert Starts: When the alert will display on the front-end of the website

    • Alert Ends: When the alert will end on the front-end of the website

  7. Choose a Save option:

    • Save Changes: Will save your changes without publishing them to the live site

    • Save & Send: Will save your changes and notify subscribers

      • A notification window opens. Your options for sending the notification include:

        • Subject: Add a brief subject line

        • Comments: Attach a brief description of the alert

        • Mobile Text or Push Message: Attach a message to the SMS notification

        • Include Link to Item: Provides a link to the item within the SMS message for a user to select via their mobile device

        • Send

          • On Start Date: Sends the item on the start date previously set

          • Immediately: Sends the alert immediately

        • Select Send, Don’t Send, or Cancel: The notification is then sent to everyone who signed up for the selected Alert Center category through Notify Me®

    • Cancel: Will delete the changes you made
