Update Page Title & Menu Text

This article walks through how to change the title and menu text for a page. Menu text will exactly match the page title by default but you can also choose to customize the menu text to be different from the title.

Update a Page Title

Who can use this feature?

System Administrator | Owner | Publisher

  1. Log in to your site

  2. Ensure Live Edit is On and navigate to the page Live edit is on.

  3. Select Actions for the Version that has the title you want to change Page Actions.

  4. Select OptionsPage Versions Options.

  5. Change the TitlePage Version Title.

  6. Scroll down and click Save ChangesSave Changes.

  7. If your page is set to use the page title for menu text, the menu text will automatically update. If not, you will need to follow the instructions below to update the menu text.

Update Page Menu Text

Menu Text is the link text that is displayed in the site menus. It also generates the page's URL and should be as short as possible.

Important Note:

When you change the Menu Text, the Page Title will not change. Changes will only be reflected in menus.

  1. Sign in to your site

  2. Ensure that Live Edit Is On and navigate to the applicable page Live edit is on.

  3. Select the Properties tab Properties Tab.

  4. Change the Menu TextMenu text box.

    • Always Use Page Title for Menu Text: Select this option to have Menu Text always automatically match the Page Title when submitted, or when saved page versions are published. Always use page title for menu text checkbox.

      Note: If you select this option, you can not change the Menu Text in the Properties tab. You must change the Page Title in the Version Options.

  5. Click Save Page ChangesSave page changes.
