Manage Videos in the Content Manager

Videos may be added as Content before they are used on a page within CivicEngage Open, but it is not required. Videos may also be added as Content when a page is created.

Videos may be added, viewed, edited, published and unpublished, and deleted from the Manage Content menu.

Important Note

  • Videos have a maximum file size of 128 MB. Allowed video types are: .mp4, .mpg, .avi, or .webm.

  • Updating a video in the Content Manager will update the video everywhere on a site.

Upload a Video in the Content Manager

  1. Sign in to your site

  2. From the dashboard, click Manage Content The button labeled Manage Content.

  3. Select the Videos tab The tab labeled Videos.

  4. Click Add Video The hyperlink labeled Add Video.

  5. Complete the Video Fields

  6. Click on the Publishing tab The tab labeled Publishing.

  7. Publish or unpublish the file

    Note:

    The file must be published to appear on a page

  8. Click Save
    The Save button.

Edit a Video in the Content Manager

  1. Search for the Video

  2. Click edit The hyperlink labeled edit.

  3. Edit some or all of the Video Fields

  4. Publish or unpublish the video as desired

  5. Select the Revisions tab The tab labeled Revisions.

  6. Detail any information about edits made, if desired The text entry field labeled Revision log message.

  7. Click Save
    The Save button.

Publish or Unpublish a Video

Unpublishing an image keeps the full history of the page, which can be helpful for record retention purposes.

Instructions

  1. Search for the Video

  2. Click edit The hyperlink labeled edit.

  3. Select the Publishing tab The tab labeled Publishing.

  4. Check or uncheck the box to publish or unpublish the video, respectively The check box to the left of the word Published.

    Note:

    The video must be published to appear on a page

  5. Select the Revisions tab The tab labeled Revisions.

  6. Detail any information about publishing or unpublishing, if desired The text entry field labeled Revision log message.

  7. Click Save
    The Save button.

Delete a Video

Only Site Admins can delete content. We discourage the deletion of content and advise that content be unpublished if it is no longer relevant. Please be advised that deletion is permanent.

Video Fields

Some, not all, of these fields may be present.

  • Name: The name for the video

  • Video: The video file

  • Video Title: The title of the video

  • Microsite: The microsite associated with the video

  • Remote Video URL: The third-party URL for the video, if applicable
