Retirement of Post to Neighbors and Watch Areas
As part of our ongoing efforts to focus on the features that best support resident reporting and government engagement, we are retiring two legacy community features:
Post to Neighbors (Community Area)
What is Changing?
After August 15, 2026:
Users will no longer be able to create, manage, or receive updates through Watch Areas.
The Community Area, including Post to Neighbors functionality, will no longer be available.
Existing Community Area content and Watch Area configurations will no longer be accessible.
If a user tries to report an issue in a location that is not served by any jurisdiction contracted with CivicPlus to use SeeClickFix 311 CRM, the user will receive a message that the “Location is outside of service area.”
The ability to transfer a request between organizations using the Post to Neighbors option for recategorization will not be impacted by this change.
Why Are These Features Being Retired?
These features were introduced many years ago to support community-based engagement. Over time, usage patterns have evolved, and we are focusing our investment on the core reporting, communication, and service request experiences that provide the greatest value to residents and local governments.
What Should Organizations Do?
If your organization or residents currently use Watch Areas or Community Area features, we recommend reviewing any workflows, communications, or resources that reference them before August 15, 2026.
As a reminder, it is best practice to use direct links to your organization’s portal and not utilize a link to seeclickfix.com or the place page. The organization’s portal provides the ability to have it branded and controlled specifically for your organization. We recommend removing any links on your website that go directly to seeclickfix.com, seeclickfix.com/report, or to a place-specific page, such as https://seeclickfix.com/new-haven.
