Connecting a Facebook Page to the Archive

Prev Next

This article will show you how to connect a Facebook Page to the Archive.

Who can use this feature?

Owners | System Administrators

Important Notes

  • Facebook page connections require Admin/Facebook access with full control status on your Facebook Page.

  • You will log in and continue as your personal Facebook Profile to authorize Page connections in the archive.

  • You must be switched to your personal profile on your web browser before connecting or reconnecting your Facebook accounts.

  • Social Media Archiving does not capture your personal Facebook profile information.

Initial Steps for Account Owners

  1. Locate and open your initial email with the subject line of Social Media Archiving Action Required: Archive your Social Media:
An email notification about the required action to archive social media content.

  2. Click the “Click here to connect your accounts” custom link within that email:
An email notification requesting a social media account connection for archiving purposes.

  3. On the next window, select Connect Facebook:
A list of social media connection options, with 'Connect Facebook' highlighted.

    Note:

Bookmark this window so you can access your personalized account connection page in the future.

Initial Steps for System Admins

  1. Sign in to your archive

  2. Click the Configure tab:
The Configure tab in the menu bar of Social Media Archiving.

  3. Navigate to the Social Media Accounts tab:
Social Media Accounts section for managing account owners in CivicPlus Social Media Archiving.

  4. Next to your name, click Connect Accounts:
Button to connect accounts for CivicPlus Social Media Archiving feature.

    Note:

If the account owner's email is different from your system administrator email, you'll need to click a drop-down to locate the connect button for step 4.

Connect Facebook Instructions

  1. Click Connect Facebook:
A list of social media connection options, with 'Connect Facebook' highlighted.

    Note:

Web Browsers automatically use the sign-in for logged-in accounts. This happens even if you don't have a Facebook window/tab currently open. Please ensure you either sign out or are signed in to the correct Facebook Profile.

  2. Use the pop-up prompt to sign in to your Facebook Profile

    Note:

If you were signed into a Facebook profile already, this step will be skipped.

  3. Click Continue as [First Name]

    Note:

Please don’t edit access permissions. Changing the settings under Edit access can result in an error for your connections. If the name area is blank, please contact Support.

  4. Select the Facebook Page you would like to connect

  5. Click Finish

  6. When you've finished, you will see a confirmation message:
Successfully connected the account notification for Knowledge Management and social media management options.
