Once you’ve chosen your payment terminal, it’s time to set it up and connect it to our platform. This article walks you through the full setup process, including how to register your devices in the Payments Portal.

Important Note

This article applies to supported devices used with CivicPlus Payments: Link 2500, Lane 3000, Lane 3600, and Lane 7000.

Set Up Your Ingenico Link/2500 Device

  1. Power on the device by holding the green buttonThe green button in the bottom right corner of the Link/2500 device.

    • If the device does not power on, ensure the device is fully charged with the USB-C cable provided with the reader.

      Note: On initial start‐up, you have to charge the battery for 16 hours.

    • After the device is powered on, and if it displays a Cloud / Disconnected message, please continue with Step 2.

    • If the reader displays the Serial Number, Unregistered, and a Registration Code, this indicates your device is already configured, and you can skip to Step 6.

  2. Using the reader pin-pad enter 0 0 0 1. This will take you to the Admin Menu.

  3. Using the F2 and F3 function keys to scroll, select option 1 - Communication Type. Within that menu, select option 4 - WIFI. Navigate back to the Admin Menu using the Yellow back button.

  4. In the Admin Menu, select option 2 - WIFI Parameters. In that menu, select option 2 - Scan Networks to search for networks nearby. Once the scan is completed, you will see a list of networks available.

  5. Select the network you wish to configure your device with and enter the network password if requested. Once connected, you will see a New Profile OK message and return back to the Admin Menu.

    • If you would like to confirm if the device is connected to the network you previously selected: you can navigate to option 2 - Wi-Fi Parameters in the Admin Menu, then option 3 - My networks. Here you will find a list of all previously saved networks. If the previously selected network is online, the word connected will be under the network name.

  6. You can exit the Admin Menu by using the back (Yellow) button or the cancel (Red) button.

    • If this is the first time setting up the device with a Wifi network, or a code is not shown on the device, you may need to restart the device:

      • To force restart the device, hold the - button (left of the Green button) and the Yellow button (above the Green button) at the same time until the ‘Shutdown In Progress’ screen is shown (about one second).

    • You will need to power the reader again by following Step 1.

Configure the Link 2500 with the Virtual Terminal

  1. When connected, the WiFi symbol will show connected and green on the top left.

  2. The code displayed on the screen is the Registration Code required for this step.

  3. Copy the code to enter into the CivicPlus Payments registration page

Set Up Your Ingenico Lane/3000 Device

  1. Plug the power supply connector into the jack on the Multipoint Interface Cable.

  2. Connect the Multipoint Interface Cable into the Multipoint Port on the underside of the terminal.

  3. Connect the other end of the Multipoint Interface Cable to an Ethernet port (router, modem, or wall jack).

    Note: This version of the Ingenico 3000 does not support Wifi connectivity.

  4. Plug the power supply adapter into an available power outlet.

Power On and Register the Terminal

  1. Once power is supplied to the terminal, the initialization process begins.

  2. Once the terminal has successfully established its IP Address, the registration process begins

  3. The terminal will display a four-digit code.

  4. Copy the code to enter into the CivicPlus Payments registration page

Enter Text Using the Multi-Tap Method

Certain aspects of setup and configuration will require you to input characters using the keypad.

Each number key also represents a set of letters that can be entered with that key, if pressed more than once. The first key press will enter the number, while pressing the key multiple times will enter one of the letters associated with that number key.

For example:

  • Press 2 once to enter the number 2.

  • Press 2 twice to enter a lowercase a.

  • Press 2 three times to enter a lowercase b.

  • Press 2 four times to enter a lowercase c.

  • Press 2 five times to enter a capital A.

  • Press 2 six times to enter a capital B.

  • Press 2 seven times to enter a capital C

Troubleshooting

Restart Your Terminal

You can restart your terminal using either of the following methods:

  • To perform a soft reboot, access the Admin Menu and select the Restart Terminal option.

  • To perform a hard reboot, press and hold the .,#* key and < (yellow key) simultaneously until the device powers off.

Device Disconnected

  1. Verify that you are using the provided multi-point mono connector (Ethernet) cable and power supply. The power supply plugs into the splitter on the Ingenico multi-point mono connector cable.

  2. Verify that the Ethernet jack on the multi-point mono connector cable is plugged securely into your router, modem, networking switch, or Ethernet wall jack.

  3. Verify that the Ethernet port being used has access to the Internet, and that your internal network allows Integrated Terminal connections. This will ensure that a firewall is not blocking the connection.

Set Up Your Ingenico Lane/3600 Device

  1. Once your equipment is unboxed, plug the power supply connector into the jack on the Multipoint Interface Cable.

  2. Connect the Multipoint Interface Cable into the Multipoint Port on the underside of the terminal.

  3. Connect the other end of the Multipoint Interface Cable to an Ethernet port (router, modem, or wall jack).

  4. Plug the power supply adapter into an available power outlet.

Power On and Register the Terminal

  1. Once power is supplied to the terminal, the initialization process begins.

  2. Once the terminal has successfully established its IP Address, it will attempt to call the terminal service.

  3. Once connected, the device is ready for use, and the registration code will display on the terminal.

  4. Copy the code to enter into the CivicPlus Payments registration page

Troubleshooting

Restart Your Terminal

You can restart your terminal using the following method:

  • To perform a hard reboot, press and hold the .,#* key and < (yellow key) simultaneously until the device powers off.

Device Disconnected

  1. Verify that you are using the provided multi-point mono connector (Ethernet) cable and power supply. The power supply plugs into the splitter on the Ingenico multi-point mono connector cable.

  2. Verify that the Ethernet jack on the multi-point mono connector cable is plugged securely into your router, modem, networking switch, or Ethernet wall jack.

  3. Verify that your device was obtained from the CardPointe shop, or your software provider.

  4. Consult with your IT administrator to verify that the Ethernet port being used has access to the Internet, and that your internal network allows CardPointe Integrated Terminal connections. This will ensure that a firewall is not blocking the connection.

Device Restarting Unexpectedly

The most common cause for a device restarting during the day is the result of an inaccurate time setting on the device. Devices are configured to automatically restart at 4 a.m. local time. To update your time settings, follow the steps below.

  1. Access the admin menu by keying in 2-6-3-4, then "F".

  2. Select Tetra Admin

  3. Scroll down to Date and Time.

  4. Press O (green button) to access Date and Time settings.

  5. Enter the current date using the device number pad.

  6. Scroll down to the time.

  7. Enter the current time in 24-hour format, using the device number pad.

  8. Press O (green button) to save your settings.

Set Up Your Ingenico Lane/7000 Device

  1. Plug the power supply connector into the jack on the Multipoint Interface Cable

  2. Connect the Multipoint Interface Cable to the Multipoint Port on the underside of the terminal

  3. Connect the other end of the Multipoint Interface Cable to an Ethernet port (router, modem, or wall jack).

  4. Plug the power supply adapter into an available power outlet

  5. Attach the stylus to your device, using the provided two-sided tape

Connect to WiFi

  1. On the pin-pad, press 2634 (the screen will change. If it does not, re-try step 1 until you see the new screen.)

  2. Press the F key (the F key is below the number 7)

  3. You can use your finger for input on the screen, or utilize the included stylus.

  4. Select Tetra Admin

  5. Select 4-Configure Wi-Fi

  6. Select 2-Scan Networks

  7. Click/select your wireless network after the scan is complete. Enter the password using the alphanumeric keypad or touch screen.

    Note: The keypad uses T9 entry. Pressing each key more than once cycles from numbers to lower-case letters to upper-case letters.

  8. Once you have entered your password, press the green circle/enter key to complete this setup.

  9. The device will confirm to connect, press the green button again on the pin-pad to confirm.

  10. Press the red X 4 to 5 times to return to the home screen.

Power On and Register the Terminal

  1. Once power is supplied to the terminal, the initialization process begins.

  2. Once the terminal has successfully established its IP Address, the registration process begins

  3. The terminal will display a four-digit code.

  4. Copy the code to enter into the CivicPlus Payments registration page

Command Canceled Error

Check that the stylus is securely connected to the terminal. Without a connected stylus, the terminal aborts the signature process with a "Command Cancelled" error.

Register Your Devices

Please note that you must have access and the proper permission to register terminals or devices in our Payments Portal. If you do not have access or the right permission, please contact the CivicPlus Payment Operations team.

  1. Prepare for Installation

    • Confirm that the terminal is powered on and connected to the internet using Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth, depending on the device model.

    • Locate the Registration Code found on the terminal screen

      Note: When the terminal is first powered on, it may display a unique registration code. The device will cycle through codes, use the one that is currently displayed on the screen. If you cannot find the code, restart the device. You can also reach out to the CivicPlus Payments Support Team for assistance.

  2. Register Your Device

    1. Navigate to the Payments Portal and log in with your credentials

    2. Click Gateway Configurations and locate the gateway you wish to configure for your terminal CivicPlus Gateway Configurations page.

    3. Navigate to the Actions menu and select the EMV Devices option EMV Devices option in the actions drop-down next to a gateway configuration.

    4. Click Register Device Register My EMV Device button in the top right corner of the device pop-up.

    5. Choose your EMV Device Name and enter the Registration Code displayed on your deviceEMV device configuration fields.

      • EMV Device Name: Choose a device name that is easy for you to recognize during the checkout process, such as "Front Desk Terminal," "POS 1" or "Main Office 2". Please note that there is a 20-character limit to the name.

      • Registration Code: This will be displayed on the terminal screen

    6. Click Add The Add button on the EMV devices popup.

  3. Verify Device Connection

    • Once registered, the system should confirm that the device has been successfully added

    • The terminal might display a confirmation message or prompt a restart

Configure Network Parameters (such as Static IP)

If your organization has any specific network requirements and need to change any network parameters on your terminals and devices, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Let the device boot fully

  2. Press 0 0 0 1

  3. Select Ethernet Parameters

  4. Select IP Configuration

  5. Highlight DHCP activation and press the green button

  6. Select off

  7. You will now be able to configure all the network parameters from this menu.
