Add & Manage the Pages Widget on a Page

The Pages Widget lists all of a page's subpages, typically used for pages that are more categorizations of the subpages rather than pages with content.

Pages Widget Formats

There are four formats for the Pages Widget that you select in the widget options. Each option also allows you to show either just the parent pages or to also show their sub-pages (depth two).

  • Format 1: Shows the page name and description with a "Link to page" link underneath  Overview of community government services, including agendas, boards, departments, and elections.

    • Depth Two: All second-level pages will just include the name and a link to that page Overview of government resources, including agendas, minutes, and CivicClerk links.

  • Format 2: Shows the page titles and descriptions Overview of community government services, including agendas, boards, departments, and elections.

    • Depth Two: Shows the second-level page titles and descriptions Information about community boards, including City Commission and Community Council details.

  • Format 3: Shows just the page titles for the main page Navigation menu for government services, including agendas, boards, departments, and elections.

    • Depth Two: Shows just the titles for the second-level pages The CivicClerk agendas and minutes section with links to various documents and boards.

  • Format 4: Shows the page title and description and includes an image  Overview of community government services, including agendas, boards, departments, and elections.

    • Depth Two: Shows the second-level page titles and descriptions Information about community boards, commissions, and their roles in local government.


Add the Pages Widget to a Page

Who can use this feature?

System Administrator | Owner | Publisher | Author  

  1. Sign in to your site and navigate to the page you want to add the Pages Widget to.

  2. Ensure that Live Edit is On:CivicPlus interface showing Municipal Websites Central with live editing feature activated.

  3. Select the Widgets tab:CivicPlus interface showing modules including highlighted Widgets section for website management.

  4. Drag and drop the Pages widget onto your page: Civic Springs website interface showing content modules and the highlighted 'Pages' option.

  5. Select the formatting options: Widget options settings, including skin, heading, format, and advanced breakpoint details.

    • Skin: This is the type of page menu design and will differ depending on the design of your site

    • Heading: Add an optional title for the widget

    • Format: Learn about the format options available

      • Format 1: Shows the parent page name and page description, while all second-level child pages will just include the name and a link to that page

      • Format 2: Show the parent and child page titles and descriptions for both

      • Format 3: Shows the page titles for both the main page and second-level child pages

      • Format 4: Shows parent page and child page names and includes an image, along with each parent-page section. For an image to display, you will need to add it to the sub-page

    • Columns: Choose how many columns you want in the menu

    • Depth: Choose how many tiers of pages you want to display

    • Advanced

      • Width breakpoint: Width at which this widget will switch from a "narrow" to "wide" view (vertically stacked columns will be positioned horizontally, and thumbnails position themselves beside text instead of above)

  6. Click the X to exit the pop-up: Widget options settings, including skin, format, columns, and advanced breakpoint details. The X to save and close is highlighted.

  7. Subpages and links to subpages will display: Website section for Civic Springs government, highlighting the overview of community and departmental information.

  8. Click Save: Options to save or cancel changes in a document editing interface with the save button highlighted.


Modify Content in the Pages

If you want to modify the content that displays in the Pages Widget, you can navigate to each subpage and Change the Page Menu Text or Edit a Page to change the Description of that page.

Once you modify the Menu Text or Description on the page, the Pages Widget will automatically update on the parent page.


Use Format 4 for the Pages

When you configure your Pages Widget to Format 4, you can add images to each Page that is displayed within the widget.

Instructions

  1. Sign in to your site and navigate to the page you want to display in your Pages Widget.

  2. Ensure that Live Edit Is On:CivicPlus interface showing Municipal Websites Central with live editing feature activated.

  3. Click Actions next to the Version you want to add images for: Jackson County Activities section with highlighted actions button and modification date.

  4. Select Options: Menu options include 'Options', 'Unpublish', and 'Archive' in a web interface. The option is selected and highlighted.

  5. Click Choose Image:Version options for Jackson County Activities with fields for description and keywords. The choose image button is highlighted.

  6. Locate your desired image and click Insert:Content management interface displaying various image folders and options for actions. The insert button is highlighted.

  7. Click Save Changes:Buttons for saving changes or canceling actions in a user interface. The save changes button is highlighted.

  8. Navigate to the page where you are currently displaying the Pages Widget.

  9. View the image next to the desired Page:Highlighted section for Jackson County Activities in the related pages list.
